Thankyou. Also a lot of the reason why younger generations may seemed entitled is we grew up with the whole optimize your life mindset. Be Gary V, graduate college with no debt by working 3 side hustles, we expect that the grind that we put in deserves adequate output. However it seems that many managers in senior positions have stopped leading and looking for what is easier. I have seen many cases of gatekeeping great young engineers because their potential is seen as a threat to managers who are looking to coast.

I have the pleasure of training many young people. Not all are bad, in fact I have no doubt that many of them will be in leadership! And yes, many of them want exactly what we want! Good pay, good quality of life and time with young families. There are certainly things we can learn from these young go getters, but that’s not to say us senior members should be dismissed. It truly is a balance and ultimately we are on the same team. Balance, respect and empathy for where people are in life seems to be the key

experience comes with maturity, very seldom is someone ready at 23 years old to manage anyone

Thanks Mike, as a Product Owner one of my Engineers is in fact a Gen-Z.
He started as an associate Eng. and was quickly promoted to a „regular“ Engineer and with the next promotion cycle I checked with his Manager, he will be promoted to Senior. And still there is a lot more potential I can see to get him up the ranks. If i would be able to build one Engineer working for one of my teams, it would be close to this Guy. This whole framing is just BS, reality is that you have good or bad employees at every generation.

You really nicely challenged stereotype of Gen Z. In fact Gen X and Y or whatever are a bit surprised or maybe jealous that younger generation is not so happy to be exploited or work dead end job (like many of their parents do) Like you said, it’s natural evolution

Im a nurse in the hospital - literally 90% of gen z have the attitude of doing the bare minimum and will not help for the greater good or to be the best at their jobs - and heaven forbid you ask them to do their job while theyre on their phone….

Before i continue this video, i just wanna say that from my experience as gen z, the older gens lied when they said hard work pays off. The older gens just keep promoting kiss asses who dont work and those of us that do work get more work. Also older generations do NOT lead by example which makes them horrible managers. I believe in leading by example. I did this by working hard and it got some of my coworkers to do the same. I was tryna move on up. But they overlooked me and promoted a guy who was lazy, barely spoke and treats it like a second job (cus it literally is his secondary job). I have no faith in upper management. Why get a couple dollars increase and 50 more responsibilities? The ratio aint ratio-ing

You know when you stop and think about it what the hell did we leave our kids to deal with to procure gainful employment with any worthwhile benefits.

10 years ago my parents brought in an arrogant narcissistic millennial who tried to run the farm into the ground. It cost me dearly. Very horrible experience.

Work life balance is a big one. Should only be a 4 day 30hr work week. Wages need to go up or cost needs to come down.

The boomers have made work a scam just like college.
