Those are characters from a TV show called CryBabies: Magic Tears. The chick and deer and are actually a baby phoenix and Santa's reindeer. From what I saw, they're paired with two baby dolls, Feli and Rosie. The +4 ratings are probably because of the TV show.

I wonder if pressing in the button while you put the water in would open the chamber enough to let the water in? Not that that would make it okay, it should just work the way you expect it to. They should have stuck with the tried and true soft plastic squeezable head design.

The rating is most likely high because amazon like ebay allows bot use and thus companies can artificially inflate the product score which buyers cannot see. This is why you always look at the negative reviews to get an accurate product review.

I would like to see Jackie try pressing the button while squeezing see if that opens a seal similar like when you bite down on the valve of an intertube to blow it up. That might be the hack of getting the product to work.
Otherwise they are cute collections may as well just omit the whole crybabies feature and make it color changing instead.
