The Nissan Juke continues to turn heads with its unconventional styling, but this small SUV struggles to keep pace with more well-rounded competitors. Recently updated for 2024, the Juke receives a much-needed interior refresh and technology upgrades, though it still falls short in key areas.
Under the hood, buyers can choose between a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 114 horsepower or a new hybrid powertrain. Neither option provides thrilling performance, with the hybrid offering improved efficiency at the expense of additional cost. The Juke's ride quality disappoints, especially on models equipped with larger 19-inch wheels. While easy to maneuver in tight spaces, the Juke lacks the driving engagement found in rivals like the Ford Puma.
Inside, the 2024 update brings a more premium feel with Alcantara trim and a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The interface can be finicky, but standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration helps smooth out the user experience. A digital instrument cluster is available on higher trims, though it lacks the customization of some competitors.
Practicality remains a weak point for the Juke. Rear seat space is cramped for adults, and the 422-liter cargo area, while competitive, trails class leaders. Poor rear visibility compounds these issues, though a standard backup camera helps mitigate this somewhat.
On the safety front, the Juke impresses with a five-star Euro NCAP rating and a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features. Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and high beam assist.
