Commentators at the time thought the players were shaken up by the Shazier injury to the point of getting gun-shy about laying on hits, which would have explained the Bengals' hesitance to shove Bell out of bounds there.

I feel so bad for the hockey player at 4:34. If you watch closely, a few feet away from the net, as soon as it touches the circle, the puck bounces in the air where before that it was sailing smoothly. The puck obviously hit something and it was just an unlucky moment for this guy. The announcer said he should be embarrassed of himself where I say…the announcer should be embarrassed of himself for saying that!
