What Layer Height Is Best for Resin & FDM 3D Printing?

Показать описание
What Are layer Heights & Which One Should You Use for 3D Printing?
There is a bit of a learning curve when it comes to 3D printing. Learning about layer heights early on can help make that curve much less steep.
The first choice you have to make is whether you want your model to have high detail or print quickly. You'll learn that you can't have both.
Printing with a 0.2 layer height will get your print done quickly, but it won't have sharp details.
Printing with a 0.1 layer height will give you much better detail, but will take longer.
My recommendations are below, but I encourage you to test by printing the same model with different layer heights to see what you like best!
**For FDM Printing**
Use 0.15 - 0.2 layer height for large creatures and terrain.
This will have lower detail but should give you a much faster print on those big models.
Use 0.1 for small models like Heros and NPCs.
This will have a longer print time but will result in much higher detail.
**For Resin/SLA printing**
Use 0.05 for everything! :)
I personally don't see a need to go below 0.05, but you should test different layer heights and decide for yourself. I know a lot of people who print at 0.03 or even 0.02 because it gives cleaner/sharper details. Just remember that you will need to calibrate your exposure settings for each different layer height.
