Ok I’ll retract my comments in part 4. This W123 is really « clean » underneath for its age. Suspension, no rust, etc. I am astonished about underneath condition! That’s great Kent!

I have a 1983 300d that is in perfect condition. I bought it from a friend in 2008 who lost all his money in the stock market. I have kept it parked on a wooden floor inside all this time. I have loved and cared for it and seldom drive it. My teenage daughter has claimed it as her first car. I want her to drive it and I know she will use it in college and maybe beyond and even drive it in the winter. I have to accept that it will eventually mean the end of it. But I have to accept it.

The body is very mint. I can't think back to any old MB that had no major rust issues. It might be neglected in some areas but this is nothing compared to the cost of major sheet metal work. The cars in the area where I live look like typical rust belt vehicles. Is someone going to buy the car? ofc cause where else do you find a rot free MB body these days?
