Slicer Pivot Table Cache Relationship and the Filter Controls Error

Learn how the relationships between the slicers, pivot tables, and pivot caches work in Excel, and how all these objects are connected.

I explain the filter controls error that occurs when trying to change the source data range of a pivot table that is connected to multiple slicers.

There are two solutions for this error. The first method is to disconnect the slicers from the pivot tables, change the source data range for each pivot table, then reconnect the slicers.

Also, the first data source you showed was a table but didn't do what you showed at the end of the video where it would update the data automatically for you to not have to change the slicers. Correct me if I am wrong, please. Thanks for all your help.

I think I see, the first data source is just filtered? The way you are telling us you created a table for the data source. Is that correct?

Thanks for the video. I am aware we need to use a table for slicers so that we do not have to update the data source (therefore I tried to use pivot table on the source data as slicer). My objective is to want the slicer to be updated automatically once we click 'refresh'. How do we do that?
