I've worked in the travel industry, so here goes

1. When you change dates the usual answer from the airlines is that, the cheap class that you booked on isn't available,

2. So you have to pay an additional fee for upgrading to another class ( which is around €100)

3. There is a date change fee of around (€20)

4. Most of the seats are booked, so there is an additional surcharge, which is for the travel consultant ( €20)

So the effective change is around €150 ( about ₹15000)


So if you are booking it, go for the business class, that way you pay a premium before, and don't end up shelling out extra money, which is almost always the actual cost of a new ticket

I believe it benefits individuals holding passports from Japan or countries with extensive visa-free access. Unfortunately, I'm just an ordinary person living in rural India.

normal working class person like me, where do i have the time and money for this around the world trip. the ticket prices may be less, but every place you visit you will have expenses for lodging and boarding. all this only for people with extra disposable income, who can spend their on vacations and have a good life.
Rest can go back to their routine life.

Important point is - if the seat is there (available). This is the most mentally taxing situation. You cannot plan with lot of uncertainty. This what I feel.

RTW is not a secret per se but a regular traveler knows about it and any business traveler. They are beneficial for them but not for common folks. This is also suitable for someone who has to regularly travel due to work purpose in any given direction. There are many rules associated with it.

There are many fare rules by the airlines.
For RTW fare you have to travel with airlines which are part of the same alliance. eg:star alliance, One world and sky team.

You have to travel in the same direction.
There are only a few travel agents who can make the round the world bookings
