In this video, I'm sharing carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms and features (CO poisoning).

The most common symptoms of CO poisoning are headache, dizziness, weakness, upset stomach, vomiting, chest pain, and confusion. CO symptoms are often described as “flu-like.” If you breathe in a lot of CO it can make you pass out or kill you.

How long does it take to get carbon monoxide poisoning?
The longer you inhale the gas, the worse your symptoms will be. You may lose balance, vision and memory and, eventually, you may lose consciousness. This can happen within 2 hours if there's a lot of carbon monoxide in the air.

Can you test yourself for carbon monoxide poisoning?
There isn't a self-diagnosis option for carbon monoxide poisoning, but anyone with confusion or a loss of consciousness should have 911 called for them.

How do you test for carbon monoxide poisoning?
The clinical diagnosis of acute carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning should be confirmed by demonstrating an elevated level of carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO). Either arterial or venous blood can be used for testing. Analysis of HbCO requires direct spectrophotometric measurement in specific blood gas analyzers.

What does carbon monoxide smell like?
A version of this story first published in 2013. (CNN) Carbon monoxide is a gas that has no odor, color or taste. You wouldn't be able to see or smell it, but it can be very dangerous to your health and even fatal.

Should I go to the ER for carbon monoxide poisoning?
If CO is detected with an alarm device, or if you suspect from your symptoms that you or your family members have been exposed to CO, leave the area of exposure immediately and go to the emergency department.

Does carbon monoxide make you sleepy?
Most people with a mild exposure to carbon monoxide experience headaches, fatigue, and nausea. Unfortunately, the symptoms are easily overlooked because they are often flu-like. Medium exposure can cause you to experience a throbbing headache, drowsiness, disorientation, and an accelerated heart rate.

How can you tell if there is carbon monoxide in your house?
Signs of a carbon monoxide leak in your house or home

Sooty or brownish-yellow stains around the leaking appliance. Stale, stuffy, or smelly air, like the smell of something burning or overheating. Soot, smoke, fumes, or back-draft in the house from a chimney, fireplace, or other fuel burning equipment.

Can you recover from carbon monoxide?
Most people who develop mild carbon monoxide poisoning recover quickly when moved into fresh air. Moderate or severe carbon monoxide poisoning causes impaired judgment, confusion, unconsciousness, seizures, chest pain, shortness of breath, low blood pressure, and coma.

Can carbon monoxide be detected in a blood test?
A carbon monoxide blood test is used to detect carbon monoxide poisoning. Poisoning can happen if you breathe air that contains too much carbon monoxide. The test measures the amount of hemoglobin that has bonded with carbon monoxide. This is called the carboxyhemoglobin level.

What condition is often confused with the early stages of carbon monoxide poisoning?
In high enough concentrations, even a few breaths can be fatal. Early symptoms of CO poisoning include irritated eyes, headache, nausea, weakness, and dizziness. They often are confused with seasickness or intoxication. Move anyone with these symptoms to fresh air immediately.

What gives off carbon monoxide in your home?
Household appliances, such as gas fires, boilers, central heating systems, water heaters, cookers, and open fires which use gas, oil, coal and wood may be possible sources of CO gas. Running a car engine in an enclosed space can cause CO poisoning.

How long does it take to get carbon monoxide poisoning from a car?
Studies by the Centers for Disease Control found that CO concentrations reach the Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH) concentration of 1,200 parts per million (ppm) in only 7 minutes when a small 5 horsepower gasoline engine is run in a 10,000 cubic foot room.

Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning may include:

Breathing problems, including no breathing, shortness of breath, or rapid breathing
Chest pain (may occur suddenly in people with angina)
Coma
Confusion
Convulsions

What causes carbon monoxide to leak?
boilers.
gas fires.
central heating systems.
water heaters.
cookers.

Can low levels of carbon monoxide make you sick?
If you are exposed to very low levels of carbon monoxide over a longer period (weeks or months), your symptoms can appear like the flu, with headache, fatigue, malaise (a general sick feeling) and sometimes nausea and vomiting

Thanks for quickly listing the symptoms I checked the boxes on vertigo - mild nausea etc and super cold temps outside with a furnace running hard and probably -(now thinking about it ) a semi clogged filter denying full air (oxygen) to the natural gas causing incomplete combustion - for now it is warm enough and the furnace is off and I'm working outside to get fresh air

What about a mild headache that comes and goes, a low-grade fever and feeling bloated? Are those symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning too?
