A song from video game Alan Wake performed by Poets of the Fall as a band called Old Gods Of Asgard that exists in the "Alan Wake's universe".

Lyrics:
Warriors, torchbearers, come redeem our dreams
Shine a light upon this night of otherworldly fiends
Odin's might be your guide, divorce you from the sane
Hammer's way will have its say, rise up in their name

Oh, Memory and Thought
Jet black and clawed

Children of the Elder God
Scourge of light upon the dark

Scratching hag, you can rake your claws and gnash your crooked teeth
You've taken slaves like ocean waves, now feel the ocean seethe
Father Thor, bless this war, between the dark and light
In their songs let their wrongs bring dissolution's night

Oh, Memory and Thought
Jet black and clawed

Children of the Elder God
Scourge of light upon the dark

Missions that involve fighting waves of oncoming enemies while rock music plays in the background are probably the best thing that can happen.

This song feels so much longer when you're fighting for your life.

An entire game of being swarmed, overwhelmed, and tormented by the Dark Presence. Playing through the daytime segments knowing full well that when the sun dipped under the horizon, everyone you just got finished talking to was going to be torn to shreds. Wandering through the shadows as mist and fog race violently past you, anticipating a sickle or an axe flying at your head at any moment, or a brute smashing through a brick wall to crush your skull. Knowing Alan's wife is still in that lake suffering while the dark forces torment you like a plaything night after night. Watching Carl Stucky literally bulldoze the house you were just in off a fucking cliff.

And then, in this one sequence, with the flip of a switch, you go from being a tormented, borderline insane victim of their whims to the rock-powered Norse God of Light upon a battleship of fire that would never, in a million years, bow before the weak, pitiful creatures that fear the sun.

That stage is a gigantic fuck you from the people of Bright Falls to the Dark Presence, and you ride the stage like a horse into battle in one of the best and most earned sequences in a video game. I felt like a mother fucking champion playing that part, and I still remember it ten years later. What a rush.

The fact that this song was canonically being played during the fight made this 10000% better. Freaking loved this game, still wish they would make a sequel

Edit: i love how everyone comments on this like tons of others havent already telling me theres a sequel and i have no clue about it...

Not just an epic middle finger to the Dark Presence, but probably also what gave its minions their weakness in the first place!

This game has a good story, good development, a simple but yet effective gameplay, and a hell of a soundtrack.
It does not matter that I discover it a week ago, is still relevant.

I made this my helicopter's theme in MGSV. Used heli support in every mission because of this.
It limited my rank and score, but the Children of the Elder God ain't about them points.

I like to believe that the Old Gods of Asgard (The Anderson brothers) are the *actual* Odin and Thor, and that through their music, they can endow people with power or offer them guidance when it’s needed most, like giving Alan/Barry the means to fight off an onslaught of taken at the farm or aiding Jesse through the Ashtray maze in Control.

Especially since the stage is turned off until a bolt of lightning strikes it.

With Alan Wake remastered, I will finally be able to listen to this in-game

I was not expecting a "horror" game to have a scene like that. But goddamn if it isn't one of the most badass moments in games ever. I was playing the game with a friend when we got to that scene, and we were pretty much dumbstruck for about 30 seconds before we started dancing to the music.

"God damn!"

This was the most badass part of the entire game. Tossing flares and flash bangs everywhere, also the first time you get the Heavy Duty Lantern flashlight upgrade to protect the stage.

This song is seriously too epic, the lyrics, the instrumentals, everything about it is just too beautiful.

Even thought I had to replay this stage a few times, I never got sick of this music.
