The 8% battery figure is probably about as accurate as 175 PSI tire pressure.

Did the test on my 115k mi 2021 Model Y LR, got 82% life. Better then I expected tbh this vehicle was driven very hard its whole life and been supercharged a majority of it.

Pretty neat stuff in Service Mode. I wanted to do this, but don’t have home charging. I asked SC Tech to perform this, but so far I’ve heard only crickets. Car’s exclusively SC charged. Almost everyday to 90%. Yesterday I pulled a Kyle and pushed it to 5% remaining… Lol. The very first time car’s been in single digits. Though my 90% number is @254.. Curious to see how battery health is holding up. Owned it for 2+ yrs.. pushing about 45k… Love the channel! Dig the new logo !!🍻

I think you should replace the coolant valve actuator to clear that fault and then repeat the test. Start at about 25%, not single digits. You might have to disable TeslaFi first.

80+% capacity is a common threshold that a battery is still healthy. If Teslafi is showing 12% degradation, and the battery health is showing 8%, maybe the health test shows how much degradation is left until it thinks the battery will reach that 80% mark.

Good stats. My full charge is hanging out around 275 rated miles. 170, 000 miles of similar use case to you, with lots of supercharging on road trips. I haven’t don’t the service mode health test yet.

Hi, just one thought, a poor battery might perform ok while slow discharge but really suffer on high discharge due to increased internal resistance. It’s not so easy to measure degradation. It’s always a algorithm and it’s not perfect

The 5 way valve has failed on the superbottle and will need replaced. Tesla replaced mine for the same error, fortunatley under warranty. They replace the superbottle and attached pumps, valve, etc. for this, requires coolant put back into system and also recharging refrigerant system too since it is all tied together. Was done in a day. Good luck!

I tried it with mine, did everything that you did a week before you posted your video. I had the fans going all kinds of noise and something went wrong because I came back and it still said 100% Health after almost 2 years of ownership

Tried this and had two alerts, back window auto wasn't working and the back defrost wasn't working. Fixed it! Would be nice if Tesla reached out to you about these so we can fix them. Thanks for the tip!

Final result show my 2018 with almost 68k miles at 84%. The last 4% of the drain process was weired. It looked like stuck at 4% with nothing going on to drain the battery. I had to stop and restart the test after a full day of waiting. I don't know if it went to 0%. When I noticed it started to charge, my screen showed 5%. Also worth noting is after the test, my car was reset to factory default, which I lost all our driver profiles, favorite, etc.

Would appreciate if you could work for better views of the interior screen and your laptop instead of just holding up a phone. A mounted go pro does wonders on other channels, and screen recording on laptops is simple enough. Appreciate the content!

Thanks for showing this test. It appears your car has 65.6 kWhs for the nominal full pack reading. New is 77.8, making for 16% battery degradation. The range loss as you showed is 12%. I see the same variance between range loss and degradation loss in my 2019 LR RWD over the years. Capacity and Range Loss have always been different readings, with the capacity loss being greater. My capacity loss is 6.8% but my range loss so far is 4.6%. I have far fewer miles than yours, however. 😉I'm taking my readings from ScanMyTesla. The Energy Buffer reading also declines over time. I believe this reserve is the past 0% capacity. Energy Buffer this vintage of 3's starts at 3.5 kWhs. Mine has dropped to 3.27 kWhs. While I only have 24k miles, 37% of those miles have been from Supercharging. I pretty much follow your same battery charging strategy.

Great video! I didn’t know about this service mode at all. I’m going to try a battery test soon and I’ll post my results. My 2020 M3P is currently at rough lymph 62K miles. Again thanks for posting this awesome video 💯

Ran a battery health test on my 2018 Model3. My result was 12% health. My car has 51k miles, 98% home charging (up to 80-90% SoC). After reading some of these comments, I'll likely run another test after I get a software update and the weather gets warmer.
