Greek New Testament by the Tyndale House (Cambridge)

Here are my initial thoughts about the new Tyndale House Greek New Testament, published by Crossway in the US. I like it. You will still need NA for detailed text-critical work, but for pure reading pleasure, this is the text.

Thank you for this review. As one of your Greek students, starting 19 years ago, I am grateful all your work.

I was really impressed with the printing quality of Tyndale House's GNT! I liked how clear everything looks.

Love both the soft cover GNT and the hard back Reader's edition. However, the hard back GNT (which I do not own) has the best appendices, the most dictionary tools, and is quite awesome. I fell in love with their lemma index when I bought the Reader's edition. Unfortunately the soft cover GNT (the one shown in the video) has the slimmest appendix. I'm really enjoying the appendices because one dictionary will show the uncommon words while another will show the root meanings, which is so fun for us vocabulary geeks. Great job Tyndale House!

I just found your channel a few days ago and I've really enjoyed your videos.  I've been reading the online Wycliffe Bible and have enjoyed that but I've wanted a GNT for a while now but couldn't decide which one as I wanted one as close to the oldest manuscripts as possible. You review is so clear and reassuring, it's very helpful. I am not yet an accomplished Greek scholar but I know that having a reliable GNT in my possession will spur me on to gain more fluency. I was also expecting a hefty price tag on the Tyndale NT and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not so. Thank you for this review and for all your videos.

Thanks for this video, Bill! This is exactly the analysis that I was looking for. By the way, I finished first year Greek this spring. We used your book (3rd ed.) and it was great :) I also really appreciated the video content!

Thank you for your review and take on the Tyndale GNT. I have both the reader's edition and the non-reader edition and will be digging into both as I begin to review the Greek I learned years ago.
One observation, not related to your review, is a 2 volume book set I see immediately over your right shoulder, third shelf. would that happen to be Zuntz's grammar and, if so, what's your take on it? If that is not what I think it is, please pardon my wandering eye.
Thank you for all that you do for the Kingdom of God and for helping many of us read Greek.
Peace.

I'm surprised that Dr. Mounce did not explain the order of the books in the Tyndale NT. When I first got my copy, I thought they'd decided to leave out some of the letters, etc. Why this change?

The 2011 Crossway's USB Reader's NT in leather sounds really really similar (physically). Have you seen that one? I like the idea of using the older manuscripts, and not assuming "standardized" spelling. Also, just a bug in your year, I'd really appreciate that video series for "Greek 2" using the graded reader. I'm teaching Greek to High School students right now, always looking to learn better ways to teach (I learned the "old way")

Do you have a recommendation for a textus receptus bible?

A little confused about the point on standardized spelling. Presumably the original author wouldn't use variant spellings, so i don't see how i'd feel closer to the original if i was confronted with scribal proclivities

What does it have for mark 1:41? Compassion or anger?
