Why does the boolean modifier does not work for me? Half of the cylinder suddenly turns into flipped normals and stays visible, so now I have a corset with sticking half cylinders inwards the body out of the places supposed to be holes. So it seems like it is not working on thin meshes?

The first method was what I needed, although to make the change permenant I clicked the apply option on the boolean modifier and deleted the shape that was used to modify. Simply changing how the modifying shape is displayed was no use if you actually wanted to export the 3d model.
