Can We Find 100 SNAKES in a Day?!

I found 139 snakes in one day with a friend a couple months ago. The density in Kansas is pretty cool.

Looks like Blue Bellied Garter. They can get to 4 feet plus and be thick bodied. I caught 1 in 1989 in NW Illinois, hanging out under a piece of tin along with 2 huge fox snakes. In 40 years of catching snakes I have only found 1 Blue Bellied Garter.

The most I've ever caught was 68 in one evening!

Most were garter snakes.. milk snakes.. black rat snakes.. and a few black racers 😊

The only ones that bit were the racers!!!

These were all found around an abandoned house in central Pa!

I just fed 1 of my garters a fuzzy mouse which she greedily snatched right outta my hand. I like to get my pet garters on mice as soon as possible because nightcrawlers can be very difficult to find during our hot summers here. They still do get nightcrawlers when available and sometimes I buy different fish fillets for them as well. I just lost 2 of my pet garters earlier this year. I lost a male I had for 11 years and a female I had for 14 years. That's just how long I had them so they were a bit older than that and it was most likely just old age that they passed away from. I take very good care of all my pets no matter what the species.
