How common are neck lumps?

Neck lumps are fairly common and they can occur in any age group, and depending on which age group they happen in, this will often determine how seriously it should be treated.

For example, in children, nearly all neck lumps are benign and purely inflammatory in nature. In adults, however, the picture differs slightly. In adults, certain neck lumps may be tumours, which can be either benign or malignant, but should be taken seriously in each case.

I have a bump on the left side of my neck and it is a bit painful when I swallow. It’s night time now and I cannot sleep. My parents said it was because I ate too much sweets and didn’t drink water. They also said it would be gone by morning. Hopefully it will be gone and I will have a memory of this in the future. Oop-

I’ve had anterior neck nodules twice. The key for me to seek help is this — if u feel activity in the lump get into the doc cause if it metasticizes u may regret waiting.

I discovered a lot onthe front of my throat on the right side I have underactive thyroid and I have nodules on it I also have hard time swallowing my saliva and I get pain and I was told my throat is swollen I had a scan with die it's normal now the doc wants to do a Barium Swallow test .Do you know of any other test I can get done my limp is right under my skin in the front I don't know why can't they see it .☹️Thank you

I have a pea sized movable lump/ball on the upper right of my neck below the chin. It doesn't hurt or anything. And whenever I press my tounge to the roof of my mouth the lump/ball comes more to the front of my neck. I'm only 16 years old. I have a lump in my neck since March. It’s quite large. Now only yesterday I discovered another small one on the other side of my neck. However my ears are getting blocked a lot recently and the doctors think I could have glue ear which is causing the lump on my neck. They don’t know yet about the other one though. I’m 13 years old. Does anyone know if it could be anything serious
