Hydrogen Planes: Can we fly without emissions soon?

A plane ticket is the single most emission heavy thing we can buy. But aviation companies say that we could change that soon – with zero-emission hydrogen planes, for example. Is that really realistic?

Hydrogen Production Overview/Hydrogen Production by Water Electrolysis:

Hydrogen – the fuel of the future?:

We're destroying our environment at an alarming rate. But it doesn't need to be this way. Our new channel Planet A explores the shift towards an eco-friendly world — and challenges our ideas about what dealing with climate change means. We look at the big and the small: What we can do and how the system needs to change. Every Friday we'll take a truly global look at how to get us out of this mess.

I’m a pilot, working on building my hours as an instructor so I’m still in training. I drive Uber to afford it. Yesterday I picked up a guy in San Francisco that works for a company that helps other companies track their CO2 emissions and he told me airlines, especially European ones are actually super into reducing their CO2 emissions, compared to other industries.

Hydrogen more than option has become a necessity especially for long haul transport through planes and ships. Moreover, for planes where the weight to range issue is more prominent.

Air travel is a big component of climate change, but energy is much more important.

We should be switching away from coal fired, oil fired, and natural gas fired plants, switching to an energy economy primarily composed of nuclear power supplemented by renewables.

a vast networks of high speed rails is the answer, especially in a place like the US

I dont understand why they don't use methane or LNG first. First option can be easily produced by biowaste. Both options does not reduce CO2, but significiantly reduces heavy particles and other way more toxic gasses to almost non existent.

Finally Germany facing climate catastrophy realise that nuclear plants are a lesser Evil🌈⭐

Hydrogen could first be implemented into ships, while planes can be replaced (at least for the short-haul flights) by high speed rails. Look at many examples: Barcelona-Madrid, Rome-Milan, those flights won't be even on schedule.

Conversion of existing surplus aircraft makes more sense now than building an entirely new fleet...

I would like to see hydrogen powering our airplanes. If it's a structural problem, replace the wings, if it's a tack problem, replace the tank, you could also replace the jet engine with electrical propellers.

Tax carbon emissions and the economy and R&D investments will shift to clean renewable solutions. Put the money from the tax toward mitigation, relief and reconstruction from climate-related disasters (because when you break something you have to pay to fix it.)

these are the youtube channels which deserve 100 million subs and yet we have rather useless channels sitting at the top

The Green /nuclear revolution is taking place winter 22 cause Europe cannot transporte coal by barges on the Rhine cause its drying Up.🌈⭐

The hydrogen planes already have been there years ago, Tu-155/Tu-156. It´s nothing new. If people really wanted to, they could already flew that way... But oil industry and company's wanted to keep fuel cheap all the time... that destroys every technology like that. Same goes for hydrogen cars. There were hydrogen cars+buses working very good, they were all canceled. We already had the technology. And now they are making full electric cars and trucks in Europe, which need a whole new set off infrastructure and stuff, not just the car itself. They need a huge amount charging stations, lots off copper for wires etc. Resources are not just bound in the car a itself, which a lot of people miss, when calling a e-car absolutely environment friendly. Also there are huge power losses, which occur over long distances when the power travles around the power grid. With Hydrogen, just all the gas stations have to be replaced, producers can be build where the power comes from. There is no need to do much more than that. That`s it. No need to build everything new from scratch, just to have it the full electric way. It would save lots and lots of resources and byproducts. Instead in Germany politics want to build half electric trucks, with diesel and electrified motorways for trucks.... what a nonsense. Hydrogen is just the right balance between efficiency, fast "loading" and cost.

Sure, we can fly without emissions . But what is the energy cost and efficiency of creating the hydrogen and its required infrastructure on the ground?

So the final recommendation is not to fly!!
Very simple solution for a much complex problem. Maybe we should go back to caves to be eco friendly.

The solution these activists will instead advocate for is to prevent people from traveling altogether. Unless you're a powerful politician or wealthy, of course.

Isn't Hydrogen the thing that burned up the Hindenburg Airship ?

Can someone tells me how we can store hydrogen in fuel tank because it can leak from any metal . Even rocket are filled with hydrogen just before launch . It is total gimmic
