You do you man, you gave us your honest thoughts and did a good job testing the Action 2. Everyone wants to find a reason to fight and hate on everyone else, don't worry about it. Stick to who you are, don't morph to the mass's because you didn't praise the product they were looking forward to being great and buying. DJI might not send you anymore of their products because you were not like "bruh, this is rad", but if that's the case, then you don't want to work with a company like that anyways.

Your concerns about the magnet are very valid; it's a standard test for most mobile devices since anything with a speaker has a magnet pretty close to the surface. Magnetic (ferritic) particles are actually present in a lot of sand/dirt, and regularly find their way into people's pockets.

The magnets are cool but for an "active" device, it's more for the cool-factor than actual retention to the device. A clip-based system works just as well.

I feel it was a good review. I know a lot of people buy action cameras thinking they need it and end up defaulting back to their phone cameras since its more convenient.

2 questions. #1.) did you enable high quality in the pro settings? by default the compression is set to high which makes the quality crap in my opinion. I chose the high compatibility codec for better quality. #2.) Did you disable the auto temp shut off mode? I switched it from standard to high and that allowed me to record for over an hour with just the main unit without any other modules attached. just potential solutions for the problems you mentioned earlier

Seems to me the tiny form factor of this camera makes it MOST ideal for headband use, even more so than GoPro.

Wow, your video was controversial? I really liked it. Smartphones nowadays have a ton of computational post-processing in photos and videos, knowing that these can outperform actual cameras is really interesting. It all boils down to application, if you intend to use the action camera for actual "ACTION" than yeah, get the camera. You will know if you need it. But if you don't need it, you don't need it, you can do fine with what you have and you don't have to be afraid of missing out. Simple as that.

Long, long overdue GoPro Session 5 replacement!

For RC plane and quadcopter FPV filming, the 56g and Rock-Steady are prime attractions.

But I'm not rushing out to buy one until the temperature issues are resolved, including the EU/GB geofencing issue.

Your original video gave helpful context and an interesting look at a popular device compared to the Action 2 in image quality (I'm going to assume at default settings with the cropped in mode). I found it helpful! Thanks for the follow up.

Did you change the video compression within the Action 2 before recording for your review? Apparently the default compression is pretty bad and it's recommended to change it before first use.

I loved the first video and thought it made sense for the same reasons you outlined. You can compare any two things you like and it’s up to everyone else to take away what they want to take away from the comparison. Keep up the quality content!

You are absolutely right. I bought a DJI Osmo Action a couple of years ago because of the front screen, making it great for vlogging. It was a great camera but I hardly used it because for most of what I needed it for the phone is more convenient and image quality was comparable. So I sold it and bought an Insta360 One X2, now I use this camera a lot and it’s because it adds convenience to shooting your videos.

I just used that blue/orange underwater housing from Amazon on my iPhone 12 in Hawaii and it worked flawlessly.

DJI went strictly action camera with this because they already have an awesome camera for vlogging in the pocket 2. that’s why this design went a whole different route

I think you did a great job man. Don’t worry. I have received my Action 2 today. And I will be honest there is some real issues with the product.

Overheating is a major issue for flogging and anything that it’s not got airflow. It’s cooking it’s self in 3:30 module only in 4k120. Then there is the time to transfer footage from the memeory to SD card. It’s taking 14+ minutes for 10GB.

Frankly this product has some major issues.

Fantastic to see you address the “reviews” too from others, so much lies out there right now.

I have few osmo action cameras, sony a7iii that we used to vlog with, but now when i got iphone 13 pro somehow i am using it more and more for vlogging. So i understand what are you talking about. I will still use my old osmo action for Enduro riding. I dont trust this new locking system when i am on my motorcycle. Another thing is that i cannot swap batteries like on old osmo action. Sometimes i use 3 or 4 batteries on one ride.

A thousand dollar ‘camera’ on an iPhone? What😂😂😂 who in the world said that? The phone’s a thousand because of the SPECIFICATIONS INSIDE THE PHONE, not JUST the camera

👍🏻 … For me, no need to clarify as I got that from your review and I really appreciate the take. Love having the iPhone as a baseline and not just because i have the 13 pro too. It is a great camera! Doesn’t deter me from this dji as I am looking for this form factor and am also considering insta360 go 2 which probably isn’t as good as this

Too many people are nitpicking too much now-a-days on reviews. You do you. Keep up to good work.
