I think posting your games EARLY AND OFTEN is probably the most important aspect of indie game marketing. What do you guys think?

The idea of balancing what the audience wants vs what you want is also super relevant to content creation. What I want is not always what I know the audience wants.

My first game will be released on July 22, 2024. It's a survival game called Last Whisper Survival. I lost my job two years ago, and a publisher saw my video on YouTube and asked if I wanted to make my game with them. They offered to fund it and handle the marketing. We signed the contract after my girlfriend checked it five times and asked for some changes, which they accepted without any issues. My publisher is awesome—they let me do what I want and help me when I need it. I've learned so much from them, and now I've signed my second game with them.

@thomasbrush, thanks for the knowledge and experience you have been sharing here in your channel your course, which is very useful for other game devs, especially those who are starting. However I'd like to live here my 2 cents when you're interviewing gests: give them the stage. You don't need to interrupt them or dominate the conversation, as you can do that on all your solo videos.

There are so many games, I never got around to playing but I bought as I liked what I saw and I wanted to see more of them in the early Xbox Live Arcade days. I try to continue to do that, but I fee like these days I'm missing out on so many awesome games I've never even heard of.

2:13 I noticed how you left your cursor on the mute button. You can actually set up keybinds that you can use any time, even while Discord is closed, giving you more control. With keybinds, you can mute yourself even without touching Discord! One good keybind for muting is pgup+pgdn, because it's unusual to press them both at once, and you can do it with one hand or even one finger if you'd like.

I agree with all the points but the last bit, I think uniforming yourself to what sells the most might steal away the uniqueness and potentially groundbreaking innovation in favour of a cashflow. Which again is not a bad thing but need to be carefully gauged what to go for...money or passion, perhaps a balance of the both? What I am afraid of is the industry turning in a cauldron of rinse and repeat as it "sells" and never exploring new boundaries that might not afraid of not being profitable... which again is understandable.
