Musician reacts to DIRTY LOOPS Work Shit Out

This Dirty Loops reaction is genuinely my first time ever hearing their song "Work Shit Out". Less of a traditional song structure compared to the other Dirty Loops songs I reacted to previously this is much more of an instrumental performance piece. It was mind blowing: especially on the drumming side of things. Freaking amazing.

7:56 Summary

When I do my reaction videos I don't press pause because I don't want to interrupt the natural flow of the music as it was originally intended by the artist. I try to vocalise my thoughts in real time as I listen to the song, and then summarise my reaction afterwards.

Please do recommend songs or other artists for me to checkout in future by commenting on this video! I'm constantly on the lookout for great new music and things I've never heard before.

0:17 "It's almost eight minutes long..."

7:45 "Whaaat?! Don't leave me hanging like that! C'mon! Ah, I was enjoying that."

Dirty Loops loves to end songs suddenly and leave you wanting more.

This is just bonkers. I normally don't listen to stuff this jazzy, but there's something so appealing about what they're bringing to the table. Such a unique tapestry of sound and outrageous musicianship. The drums were obviously the hero here, but the other two weren't resting on their laurels, either. The synchronicity and the search for the downbeat here is just a mind-melting puzzle that pays off time and again. So cool to watch. Glad I got to experience this with you for the first time. What a wild ride. 🤯🤣

The percussion instrument you were wondering about at the beginning of the song is a "Berimbau".

Your "Ha ha ha!" at the conclusion. Perfect. What else to say. Nice reactions, Steve. Thanks for pointing me here.

Jonah drifts from Lyle Mays to Chick Corea...and back again...and again. The depth of musicianship in this group makes you take special notice. The piece moves from the groove to the piano improv to a massive drum riff...and the bass is like a T Rex back bone throughout. It's been a while since I've been blown away like with these guys.

I love everything about this track, but I have special love for Henrik's ridiculously awesome tone on that 6-string fretless.

The instrument you wondered about is a berimbau, a Brazilian percussion instrument. Brazilian percussionist Airto Moreira uses it a lot in his music.

Awesome reaction, thank you. These guys are unbelievable & Arons drumming is beyond ridiculous. These guys have given you brilliant stuff to listen to, not sure if "Rock You" but it's a good one. Honestly I dont think there is a bad Dirty Loops song. Glad you're enjoying them, Julie from Australia

Love this band. Enjoy the ride. "World on Fire" is still my favorite so far.

Aron heard you and gave you the drum solo! 😉 Great to see and hear your reaction! 😃

Hey Steve, great reactions, you really got looped! (And you're welcome to it)
The percussive ostinato that holds the pulse all through the song, is a berimbau, afro-brazillian traditional instrument, that you can usually hear during capoeira classes or combats. Keep 'em coming!

I forgot how much I love piano solos! I need them in more music.

Thank you for this!
You are on point when you talk about Arons drum skills. You express exactly what I hear and feel, but I lack the vocabulary to describe it. Excellent!
I recommend 'Breakdown'. A slow, melodic, tasteful and beautifully executed ballad.

Have a nice evening - and thanks again!

My favourite instance of "when all 3 of the truly virtuosic lads from that year at the music college get together for a project" LOL
Even after watching this as many times as I have, I always feel like I've been thru something profound every time it pops up.... you know, sweaty hands & raised heart rate & whatnot!! Just crazy good. :)

I truly believe that the drum and bass could not possibly get more locked and tight.
