Using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submilimeter Array in Chile, astronomers probed the supermassive black holes that are at the center of most galaxies, principally to analyze the molecular gas their massive gravity wells propel into powerful jets.

That "inside out" explanation was spot on. Well said!!

is the first zoom in part an actual picture or pictures, or is a computer made video? Its really incredible.

Wow, I had no idea that we are capable of such detailed photos.

It needs a commentary for casual science browsers like me.

They merge, happens a lot in galaxy collisions, their central black holes merge into one.

Why they keep calling it a "hole" doesn’t make sense. It has measurable mass and spinning properties. Still calling it a singularity is worse, since it occupies 3D space with measurable sizes, it’s a contradiction if scientists keep saying the information that goes into there isn’t lost forever.
It’s a star turned inside out, instead of giving energy away, it absorbs it in all its forms, including mater. Becomes a paradox calling a "hole" to something that grows in size during all its life...

What would happen if a Black hole ran into another Black hole? Is that even possible?

So what would happen if you were to enter one?

Imagine what happends when a bubble hits another bubble, they unite.

Funnily enough no one has tried it yet!

so would you like it to be called a "black full" ? :)

That gave me a petty good idea of how small I am.

If one were to enter a close orbit, one that would affect you with the severe gravity of the smbh, and you would maintain it for a 'long enough' also able of leaving the orbit and return to 'normal' space, .. *sigh* would you have 'travelled into the future by 'slowing down' in orbit?
