Benedict still has his papal ring. In the 1960's while I was in Catholic high school a priest taught that once a pope dies or resigns his ring will be destroyed.

Ofcourse I want person who was elected legitemately as a pope, to be the pope, however, many people are acting like pope Benedict XVI was the best pope ever, I don't remember the period between 2005 - 2013 being some sort of ''Golden age'' of catholic church...

Sometimes we get bad popes. This is hard to accept, but not out of bounds. We've seen it before in history. I don't like Francis, and yes, Benedict is still alive. But I have to come to grips with Benedict resigned the office. The office is still the office. And he resigned, said the char of Peter was vacant. That is the ballgame. He's underscored it numerous time since. It puts us in a very uncomfortable position with this fellow at the helm. But Benedict will need to take that to confession as that is his problem and we are left to deal with the consequence.
