As our 2,000 year old Catholic Church marches into the future, Pope Benedict's teachings leave a theological roadmap for the faithful. The late Pope was a framer of Vatican II, the author of 3 encyclicals and a sort of spiritual arbiter of the pressing moral issues of our time. All of this, yet he described himself a "humble worker in the vineyard of the Lord." Doctor of Moral Theology and president of the Dominican House of Studies, Fr. Thomas Petri, joins with more on the life and legacy of the former Pope. He sums up Pope Benedict's life focus and what stands out the most to him. Behind this great mind and master theologian was a very warm and humble man who did not seek the limelight. Fr. Petri tells us about the former Pope as a regular human being. When he became Pope in 2005 he had huge shoes to fill. Pope Saint John Paul II had been Pope for 27 years. He was very charistmatic and extremely popular. Fr. Petri discusses how Pope Benedict was different and how he rose to the occasion in his own way and style.
