I finally decided to upgrade to an actual camera after having used nothing but a smartphone camera for years. After much research I decided to go with the Olympus Mark IV- Amazon just delivered the camera about an hour ago and even as a “beginner” camera it’s intimidating at first look. Your video was the first I found to help me begin to understand how to use this new camera and I found it to be a great start. Just wanted to say thanks!

You are one of the only people having published a walkthrough video for the Olympus IV and it helped me a lot!
Thanks!

Hi, good comprehensive review. I own three Olympus cameras one more advanced then the OM10 4 and one more basic but I find that I use this OM10 4 the most as it has all the settings I need to take great photos.

Great video especially for newbies like me. Thanks so much for a great video. I could not find a manual for this camera so your videos became my best friend. Thanks again for a job well done.

Thanks very much! Your posting is very helpful. I just got my camera yesterday and your presentation is way more interesting than trying to figure out the .pdf manual! I look forward to any more you do about the Mark IV.

Thanks Heather, very good video, sorted a few things out for me, maybe a bit fast in places for this old dog.

I just got one of these as a very nice Christmas present and your video is a wonderful introduction to fhe camera! :)
There's just so many menu options and using this and your other setting specific guides will certainly be more enjoyable than reading the rather terse documentation. Though even if the factory instructions were superb seeing it live in video form is still my preferred way to learn.
I couldn't decide between a 35 or 50 (35mm equivalent) lens aa my first prime but went for the 35 since I'll mostly be taking so called street style photos and travel photos with a lot of them in lower light. I also picked up the 12-40 f/2.8 because I thought having this range of focal lengths available would be great for learning which ones I prefer in practice not theory before buying more expensive primes which i may neveruse. Oh my camera was just the body so no zoom kit lens.
Based on my research and my very unprofessional opinion I think this camera may be the ideal jumping off point for beginners even if they move off the micro 4/3 format in the future. I'm amazed at how little difference there is between the M10 and Olympus' professional cameras. The only missing feature I really wish it had was weather sealing.
Thank you again for the great overviews and saving me tons of time.

I have matched this camera with the OM 12 to 200 lens as a great, light, walkabout option.

Is there a horizontal bar setting? I tend to get a list to starboard taking when landscapes

Heather I have just acquired a E-M10 IV and am familiarizing myself with it. I have a basic question. Where in the menu can I select RAW or JPG and size of picture. I thought it should be in shooting mode 1 but I have no listing there.

I have owned Olympus cameras for the last decade. As a matter of fact, I own 4 currently (EM1 Mark ii, EM5 Mark iii, original EM10 and more recently the EM10 Mark iv) Long ago I moved from Nikon to Olympus and have not looked back. I love the weight, size, optical quality and of course price. I particularly like the Super Control Panel. I really enjoyed your tutorial And always think that it is a good idea to get back to the basics with any new camera. I am still unsure about how to move the focus point around with the 10 Mark IV. With my other Olympus cameras I have always moved the focus points with the toggle wheel. With this camera I thought that I was doing just that early on, but it now it seems that I have to use the front and tear control wheels to move it around. This is awkward. Is there any way to change that in the menu? Any advise would be helpful.
