Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV Review - An affordable camera with SOUL

The Olympus E-M10 Mark IV may not have the bells and whistles found on more expensive Olympus bodies, but it's a solid entry-level camera. It's also got some photographic soul - something we can't say about all cameras.

As many have mentioned, the IS example at 6:56 is mislabelled. The left photo has IS disabled, and it is enabled in the right photo. Apologies for the mistake.

With all the full frame attention these days, nice to see some micro 4/3 reviews. Great review as always

8:53 – EXCELLENT kindness from fellow citizen there, hiding out of view whilst waiting for the lights to change!

It's about TIME!!! I am not feeling the m43 love often enough, you have relegated us to the so-what box along with the Pentaxians - we expect more!!

I bought a OM-D E-M10 Mark III half a year ago for about 300€ brand new. I love it for making videos. The quality is so good.

The M5 III has everything they point out as a weaknesses - phase detect AF, more customizable buttons, usable back-button AF functionality, microphone input and the screen rotates on a tripod too. It's $300 more, but if you are paying $700 anyway for the M10 IV, better buy the more capable one. Now, should you buy a different brand altogether? A valid question. But as a former Olympus and current Sony user I can say that, unless you are a professional and you NEED the most IQ for the $ spent, the OM-D cameras feel better in the hand, are more responsive and fun to use.

The Olympus E-M10 was the best selling mirrorless camera in Japan 2020!

If I wasn't investing in a full frame system for professional work, I'd be using m43 hands down. I think for 95% of the people out there, it's more than enough camera. It has so many benefits too, cheaper lenses, farther reach for wildlife photography, faster fps, better Ibis, and usually m43 pioneers in unique features that should totally be on ff cameras but aren't. I'm very hopeful for the future of olympus/omd solutions and panasonic in the m43 field.

Most of my videos are shot using Olympus cameras. .the IBIS is outstanding for video.

I really hope that IS On / IS Off comparison was reversed 🤣

Had the MarkII and sold it recently for this MarkIV. I really feel in love with this M43 system and the camera in general. These lightweight systems are so under appreciated. Their glass isn't something to scoff at either. I'll definitely keep using this along side my asp-c system.
Thanks for a great, well-balanced review on this camera.

Switched from my Canon DSLRs to Olympus for my outdoor pro work and I have loved it so far! Been consistently impressed with what I can get at the track with my E-M1 mk II so here’s hoping the system is continued in a good way with the new owners.

With IBIS and focus peaking, Olympus cameras are a great platform for inexpensive manual focusing lenses, classic or new ones. Also, tilting screen and small size make them great cameras for street photography.

I've just moved from a Sony crop body to a Lumix G9, I thought losing the phase detector auto focus would have been a bigger deal but I'm pleasantly surprised that it handles very well for the wildlife photography I use it for.

You should mention also the portability of the lenses. With any olympus or m43 bodies, you can have a very portable camera that's perfect for travel light, trekking, and so on

Awesome, joyable and capable little camera it seems. Nice entry to the MFT ecosystem. A lot of great small lenses are available. At reasonable price, for me as a hobby photographer the system to go with.

Great camera, and I love the physical controls, but the EM1 III offers too much more for me to consider the budget option. As others have pointed out - it is great to see some genuine MFT love here. MFT is still first choice for many people despite the YouTube trend of denigrating the system. The system simply offers too much goodness to think it is going away any time soon.

Best travel camera out there. I have the E-M10 mk 1 9-18mm (18-36mm), 14-42mm pancake zoom (24-84mm) the 40-150mm (80-300mm) telephoto. I have the 25mm (50mm) f1.4 as fast low light prime. Oly have improved the AF system and the face detect algorithms on this but got rid of the metal magnesium body of the Mk1...
