Yuri Reviews the 2025 Mazda CX-90 on The Straight Pipes. The 25 CX-90 is putting down 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque from a 2.5L E sky active 4 cylinder plug in hybrid. At $64,600 CAD, would you take it over the other minivans or 3 row SUVs?

Appreciate this content and that your approaching the car reviews as a parent in the same way you did early on (thinking critically about small features and how they work in every day life rather than hyper focusing on the engine or numbers). Trying to jam dogs and car seats and newborns and their stuff in is a real life situation and it’s nice to see someone thinking about how that works in reality rather than hand waiving it away.

Really liked this chill review, something else compared to the usual videos

We've got the 2024 CX-90 PHEV GT (so, pretty much what you tested, except for the touchscreen). We have two kids, but they're getting older, so we're often hauling them around, plus the boyfriend sometimes, and occasionally my mom too. The 7-seater is perfect for us. We've got a Level 2 charger at home, and since we mostly do short trips and work from home, we plug it in every time. Unless it's below -10°C (when the EV mode is disabled), we're almost always driving electric. In the first three months, we drove 3, 000 kilometers almost entirely on electric (we even saw 1.4L/100km fuel consumption!). Winter's a different story, of course, but not a deal-breaker. I've seen people on forums with problems, but knock on wood, we've been lucky. I jokingly say I've spent more on windshield washer fluid than gas with this car. It might not be the most practical for little kids in car seats, but for older kids, it's great. By the way, the EV-only power is only 170 hp, but to be fair, it's been good enough, and I almost never feel like it's lacking power. so in short we really love it both my spouse and I, we had a 2020 audi q3 and we don't miss it one bit.

That's so cool that Mazda reached out to you about the visor test.

Yuri gets in a car and sees the cell phone mount...
"Bro that could be a projectile." 😂

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the best vehicle for small kids is always a minivan.

This was my favorite review on Straight Pipes, only because you focused on real-life situations. I especially enjoyed your relatively deep-dive into the infotainment system.

We just traded our high-mileage Odyssey for a 2024 CX-90 PHEV over the weekend. The car is beautiful and the interior is impressive, plus the tech is a huge jump from the 2013 van. We're loving it and excited to have our first Mazda.

Recently moved from a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Limited to a 2025 CX-90 TSP with a 3 year old, a 6 month old, two dogs and i've got no regrets.

Can't forget the VW Atlas...newly refreshed interior and offers a bench seat on the higher trims! Awesome for young families who want an adult sitting with the kids. Also don't need to remove the car seats to get into the rear...and fits the uppababy vista v2 behind the 3rd row!

Keep these reviews coming. Recently purchased a GH hybrid max and used your videos for reference to pick the ideal family car. However, if you had a playlist of videos just like these, I’m sure it’ll be beneficial for others looking for a family car.

Dear Jacob, please let Yuri go this in depth on the infotainment in every video 🥹 seeing all the different settings available is huge for picking a new car.

That format was really cool!
Very different ! Canada reality, competition and family angle details we sometimes miss.
Loved it!

Hey Yuri, I’ve had that walk to close system since a 2015 Mazda 3 and now in a CX-5. You have to make sure to close the doors before walking away from the distance the car detects the key. That way it has worked for me every time. Hope you get a good car for you and your family! Hoping for a CX-90 as a Mazda fan.

Love sitting in the car and hauling the family. But, hot damn the forums for the CX-90 are a mess. The Hybrid Malfunction is a massive issue.

Nobody wants a minivan but the reality is they are far and away the best vehicle for a family.
