Fallout 4 Can't Save Glitch Or Load FIX

It's rather sad that this is still ongoing with Fallout 4 and never fixed. Nothing like having F4 CTD when you save. Making a new save is a temp fix since it means the bad saves won't run meaning you lose a ton of progress.

I was having issues saving any games that save in the "my documents" folder after a recent update to WIN 10. My issue was with Windows Defender (anti virus) in particular the setting under ransom ware protection. If the "controlled folder access" is set to "on" it will prevent any game from saving to "my documents." Hope this helps someone. It took me a long time to figure this out.

i finally found what my problem was
i had to go to my onedrives documents folder then change the location from properties and put it in my pc user then just unlink onedrive from my computer

if it doesn't work for you check if your C: drive is full or the drive you have the "My Games" folder on.

this game is screwed i have tried this and about 8 other things and nothing i got saves that will load but i cant save, after reading the comments below it seems there's a massive bunch of glitches with this game ill never buy a bethesda game again they can choke on the money, even went to there help page and that's a joke

I enable read only and when it enable by it self again?

when i uncheck read-only and then hit apply it goes back to checked

I spent 25 hours on the game bought it last week and next thing you know i saved and then died i was like time to go back no save files i got triggerd and played again saved it 4 hours later died no saved file trying to fix it now

just delete your .ini files on yout fallout 4 save folder

Thanks for the upload, but still it did not fix stuff for me. Since my 'MyGames' folder is actually located in OneDrive, do you think that is the reason? Did you disable OneDrive then actually create another MyGames folder by yourself?

i was playing with nexus and someone told me to install a unofficial patch on nexus and i think it worked

I figured out that the reason why it's not load is because of a currption :( and the only way i can save and load, is by using the console by pressing " ' " and by typing save <name> & load <name>

it's stupid..but i guess it works better then the qui save & load interface that is bloody broken :(

I just bought Fallout 4 earlier today and was playing thru it when i randomly died and it put me back at main menu and turns out my game hasn't been saving... even though it says it been auto saving and ive manually saved a few time since then ive restarted game and kept checking the saves and turns out even though it says it saving i have no saved file... I've done what you said to do in your video I've re installed game even .. I've tried setting permissions in the secruity tab and i just dont know what else to do :( ... would love if could give me any advice on what i should do
