Ironically, Poland didn’t actually save Europe from the Ottomans.

Due to an Islamic festival held by the Sultan in Constantinople each year, Turkish armies could only roam so far, Vienna was the furthest an army could go from Constantinople in a year.

Pretty much, Poland saved the Habsburgs, who’d go on to end Poland twice (Poland-Lithuania and the Grand Duchy of Warsaw).

More info: The festival required the army to return to Constantinople each year to celebrate the Caliph of Islam. This event was spot holy that most Islamic leaders attended along side the Ottoman military’s officers. To miss the event would be akin to heresy.

Also, I have nothing against Poland, I just like this random fact I know.

Edit: Spelling

Diplomatic relations between the Ottoman Empire and the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth were established in the 15th century.[3] In 1414, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed I Çelebi received the first Polish diplomatic delegation at his court in Bursa, at the time the capital of the Ottoman Empire.[4]

Turkish support for the Polish Bar Confederation against Russia sparked the Russo-Turkish War of 1768–1774. Following the Partitions of Poland, the Ottoman Empire and Qajar Iran were the only major countries in the world that did not recognise the final partition of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.[3] An anecdote exists recounting the exchange between the chef de protocol and his aide of the Ottoman Empire which is widely recounted today in Poland. According to the tale, whenever the diplomatic corps was received by the Ottoman sultan, on the sight of the empty chair of the Polish deputy, the Ottoman chef de protocol would ostentatiously ask: “Where is the deputy from Lehistan?”. On each occasion he would receive the same reply from his aide: ‘Your Excellency, the deputy of Lehistan could not make it because of vital impediments’ to the annoyance of the diplomats from the partitioning states. The first written record of this story comes from the Polish ambassador to Turkey in the years 1936 – 45, Michał Sokolnicki (1880 – 1967). He heard it from a Turkish officer and statesman, Ali Fuat Cebesoy (1880 – 1968), who was acquainted with the Istanbul Polish community. Cebesoy claimed that this symbolic exchange continued until the end of the sultanate and he witnessed it in person as a young officer during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II (r. 1876 – 1909) [5]

As a Turk, the Poles did not stop the Ottomans. On the contrary, the Poles accelerated their own collapse by fighting the Turks and were invaded by their neighbors. The Ottoman Empire was already in decline in the years 1600-1700, and the Ottoman-Russian wars had a great impact on the collapse of the Ottoman state.

to be fully honest the ottoman empire couldn't conquer Vienna because many reasons not only cuz "polish hussars" there were many swamps that led to the ottoman cannons to sink, the weather made it hard for the ottomans to march to Vienna so what im trying to tell is there is many other reasons to the siege of vienna failed and Suleiman the magnificent only wanted to test out his powers thats why he retreated with his 90k men and he even saw that as a victory since on his way back he conquered many castles

Oddly enough, the empire they protect from the Ottomans will divide their country into three in the future, together with Prussia and Russia. Anyway, I love the Poles, even though they used to fight us.
