Kirk Hammett solos are very easy on the ear. No note sounds out of place and everything just flows nicely. He’s a humble man and a great musician to boot! Plus, his horror memorabilia collection is EPIC!!

After years of listening to metal music and got to know a lot of amazing guitar player, I know that Kirk is not the best in term of skills and techniques. But listening to this is kind of bring me back to the root of where I start or why I love metal music and play guitar. Maybe Kirk is not known as the best of all the time, but he is the reason why so many people in this world start to play guitar. Kirk Hammett and Metallica will always have special place in my heart! You never hear a bad word about the fella. You never see him overplay his hand. He knows his limits ( which is still insanely amazing) and a rock solid guitar player. Everything you want in your band.
The solos match the songs so well. Fade to black, for me, is the greatest metal song ever written. It showed what can be done in the genre. The solo is amazing. And to do it as an outro. Wow!

My (personal) favorite guitar solo of his is actually from Shortest Straw.

It’s really unique and I’d argue one of the more difficult ones to get 100% right.

One of the most killer ones he ever did was 'The Struggle Within'. Sick stuff. He also has a bunch if memorable and tasty jams off the Load/ReLoad albums but the eletists won't admit it.

Notice how almost all are from the early days (1st few albums). It was an epic moment in time for Metallica!
