The only thing this is missing is the lady yelling "GUARDS! GUARDS!" and having a bunch of guards rush in.

One of the features I like in Kenshi is that you have to press an extra button (can't remember if it's shift or control) to steal. If you click something that's owned without pushing that button, it tells you to push the button while clicking to steal.

They knew you would accidentally click owned objects and put a safety feature in so you wouldn't accidentally steal.

Honestly, I was expecting all the town guards rushing in to arrest him. Because, you know, they always telepathically know if you've stolen something from somewhere.

After the screaming over a dead body I was expecting another adventurer to enter and her to casually greet them, instantly changing pose and hiding the crossbow.

Adam is the only adventurer who wouldn’t just say “Ahh screw it” and kill the shopkeeper. So caring of him.

This is so true! It reminds me of my early days in Skyrim. I sat at the table for immersion during a conversation since the NPC said to sit and take a load off, but there was so much stuff on the table that I literally couldn't get up without accidentally stealing something. Now, I switch to third person so I can find the super awkward camera angle to get up without stealing everything.

And then next time Adam shows up at the shop after respawning, he's of course expecting her to attack him again and he's got this whole plan on how he's gonna apologize and explain himself, but before he can say anything, she looks up at him and smiles, "Welcome back dearie!"

This would make a great basis for a Skyrim mod. A dungeon filled to the brim with vendors and guards, where you have to navigate a series of rooms, switches and puzzles. However, every single interactive object is set impossibly close to vendor items. Sneak skills in this area would be automatically disabled upon entry. If you can make it through the entire dungeon, you can then get the reward at the end.
