The Little Girl would be later taken to the hospital and make it out okay thankfully, this is why MLB Ballparks need to extend the Foul Ball netting, this is happening too often #mlb #albert almora

What a class act this young man is. You can tell he was visibly shaken by this. So heart wrenching to see this!!

This is exactly why I tell my wife to keep her eyes on the batter when we go to games and sit in foul line seating.

Albert has never been the same since. This shook him to his core.

Everyone saw where that ball went, even the catcher had to turn away as well. Gosh I hope the little girl is okay.

You can see how angry he is at himself and how worried he is about the girl and that I respect him for

Albert Almora Jr batted .289 over 786 AB before this incident. He would go on to bat .201 after this exact moment. Finishing with a career average of .258. On the Cubs he was known for decent line drives, some promising power, elite defensive range, decent speed. Today the 28 year old is a free agent lasg playing with the Reds

He was shaken as a person. This is probably the most human moment I've ever seen in a professional sport. He's a class act, but man I feel terrible for him and the child.

I don’t think I could keep playing after an incident like this

We all need a nice guy like him…someone who can cry, someone who has so much heart.

Loved Albert Almora, when he was in Single A league and my Dad and I used to call him “Double A” and every time I talked to him he was a nice, he is a great guy and mad respect for him.

I remember watching this on tv when it was live and my heart dropped when the announcer said it hit a kid. We’ve always been proud of Almora for his baseball play (despite the every now and then lackluster plate appearances). Although after seeing how crushed Almora was seeing it happen, I grew an immense amount of respect for him in terms of seeing the class act feelings that he displayed. Truly a wonderful human being with a heart

That’s a terrible coincidence for the child and the family to have to go through at a baseball game, and I certainly hope anyone injured in this was okay. But this is exactly why I love baseball. Such a display of sportsmanship to delay a game while, 1. the fan was made sure to be okay and 2. while the batter was obviously shaken after knowing he was the one that hit the ball. The players show so much regard to the fans and I love it.

I hit a home run in highschool and hit a teenage girl jogging, . The ball hit her in the temple and the girl lost her vision in her left eye, that eats at me still today. Was my only home run of the year. What are the odds.

2016, game 7 of the world series, Almora pinch ran in the top of the 10th inning with utmost professionalism, being sure to tag up at first immediately when Kris Bryant hit a ball to deep center field. He managed to get to 2nd off that hit because of his insight and wherewithal, and was instrumental in helping the Cubs secure their championship when he scored 1 of the 2 runs they needed to hold off the Indians that night.

It's good to see that one part of the game he's better at than intelligent baserunning is genuinely caring for others - fans, players, everyone. Amazing dude. Really hope the girl was and is ok.

Good on ESPN not showing a replay of where the ball went, none of us need to see that.

I know EXACTLY how he feels. The same thing happened to me in a college game. It was also a little girl. She was 8 at the time it happened. She had to have 14 stitches and seeing this video just brought all that back again. Shes good now luckily. Hope this little girl is fine now as well. I feel for him because it effected me seeing her hurt that badly for a long time. Clearly it still bothers me after seeing this video.

When I was a kid, I saw a lady get hit in the face by a laser foul ball and she never saw it coming as she was talking to her friend. It hit her square in the nose and her face exploded with blood everywhere. This was 40+ years ago and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Security came flying in from everywhere and they had her on a stretcher with medical personnel in less than 5 minutes. As a kid, I was in shock. I never take my eye off the baseball when at a game after that, never.
