I'm glad you mentioned Gvardiol playing deeper. Sam Lee(respected City journalist) said that Foden and Bernardo won't play on the wings this season, and the LW spot will be between Grealish and Doku, both of whom will stay wide rather than inverting. This means Gvardiol won't be the attacking LW we saw last season, he'll probably play as a lcb and not get forward much. Hardly worth 6m anymore

Watched both of LFCs games yesterday, and Nunez is clearly weeks off from thinking about starting for us. He's got a lot of stuff to work on in training, particularly the new tactics/system nevermind decision making. At the moment Jota is a clear first choice, probably at least until the international break.
At RCB I'm confident Quansah is first choice. Far better on the ball, less clumsy, and not injury prone. There are also rumours about that Slot has been rather unimpressed by Konate's performances both in training and in games. I'd say that if Quansah keeps up performing well, he plays.

More interested in what I’ve learned from past preseasons. Which is that preseason tells us NOTHING apart from perhaps who’s match fit and who isn’t.

Formations, selections, and performances are not applicable to the season at all.

I'm probably going for Jota now that he seems to be fitting Slot's system more than Nunez currently. Having watch the other friendly, seems like Nunez is still a bit lost in that team and I think he could need some time to be eased into the squad. Might take minutes off Jota here and there, but with those fixtures I can't ignore Liverpool attackers and definitely going for Jota early on.

Could make a switch from Jota later to Eze once he start losing minutes to Nunez.

I think in build up city defend in a back 3 and one goes forward. So when rico Lewis plays gvardiol joins the back 3. But when Walker or more cover in defence for rb rejoin the squad. It’s likely to see gvardiol pushing back up again as that almost LW

Barco should be considered a genuine rotation option especially with Robinson. Fixtures for first 6 are amazing

As an arsenal fan that watched both emirates cup pre-season games, I think you might be surprised by how many minutes zinchenko gets, especially early on in the season. he was our best player in both games, creating so many chances and scoring a goal, and calafiori and timber have not had the pre-season minutes to take his spot early season imo. Zinchenko will likely play against the easier teams as an extra creative option and at 5m is an easy rotation out for a bench option against the likes of spurs, man city etc.

Plan is to rotate between J.Murphy and Smith Rowe and also after game 1 transfer in Nkunku instead of Jota or Rashford and like that get more money in bank for backup if something hoppens.

I must be at my 500th draft now...there are so many potential under 6mil midfielders that can make having Salah, Palmer & Haaland in the team possible, Smith Rowe, Bobb, Minteh & Rogers. If 3 of those 4 can get good minutes then they can be a great way to fill the gaps and release funds elsewhere.

For Rowe, Minteh, Rogers then Bobb in this order would be my guess of getting minutes.

Savinho is a RW historically and Doku can play there too, not long till Its Savio and Doku either side of Haaland most weeks

I went for Rico Lewis last season since he was going to get a couple of games...I was then stuck with him until Wildcard because of other fires in my team. I am not going there again.

Mazraoui has played both left and right back. He's played CM before, so he definitely could play for Casemiro in the future once Shaw gets fit.
