The only thing more shocking than how bad this show is, is how some people still try to defend it.

Yeah, the “arranged marriages are bad and everyone should hate them!” trope in fantasy has been old for me for years. Everyone in the audience agrees with this, why bother? At this point I would find it far more compelling to follow a character who maybe isn’t in love with her arranged husband but is determined to do her duty and get along with him as a partner and doesn’t automatically know the conventions of her day are wrong and bad and whatever

This series sucked so bad but if part of your issue with it is that a character is “middle eastern also or Indian…” and that there aren’t enough good white guys… um… seems a bit well… typical for certain audiences…

Elora Danan was a very Celtic-looking ginger in the movie. Now she looks Germanic/Norse. Does that count as a race-swap? And you're absolutely right about the dialog. It's painfully insulting! "Yeah" and "gonna" don't belong in high fantasy (or even medium fantasy).

From what I understand, the book series by Claremont and George Lucas that followed the movie is decent but as usual, Disney decided not to go with preexisting lore and decided to go their own, trendy, woke, 21st century way with disastrous results.

I hadn't seen the show, but I have seen Disparu's reviews of it, which included many scenes from the show. kit is, by far, the most INSUFFERABLE character I've ever encountered in fiction. I've seen some genuinely vile characters in fiction in my life, but at least the writers treated them like the VILLAINS that they are. The fact that disney, a company that created so many benevolent role models for both men and women, are now behaving like that... AIR BREATHER is a protagonist that people should model themselves after is genuinely DISGUSTING to me. No, I'm not talking about the fact that she is a lesbian, I'm talking about the fact that she is spoiled, antisocial, self absorbed, ignorant, petty to the extreme, and just unpleasant to be around personality-wise overall. She's the sort of main protagonist that makes you hoping that THE ANTAGONISTS WILL WIN.

Writing "quality" of this show is as "good" as most fantasy show I watched this year- Rings of Power and The Wheel of Time. It's almost like its written by same people. And those people have zero talent in writing a proper story that has a point. Being woke is not even its main problem. These people just can't write anything that logically goes from A to B and has a point and logic, that makes sense. In short it sucks because Kasdan Jr. is worthless zero talent person getting jobs only because of his daddy. Nepotism is bad.

This show isn't Willow. Willow was a fun, if somewhat typicaly Sword and Sorcery movie from the 80s that could be serious but also could be fun and adventurous. It had a cast of fun characters, good action, great set locations, amazing music and pretty epic effects, plus an unconventional main hero who you couldn't help but root for.

This show is just another fantasy series hijacked by politics where the main characters are a pair of bitchy, rude, "strong" lesbian girls, and a bunch of beta males who basically take whatever abuse is hurled at them by the female characters. Even Willow himself is demeaned with him being told he'll never be a powerful sorcerer despite the movie spending most of it's running time to show he had the potential.

Edit: you mentioned it! I felt the exact same way and I was like of course there’s a woman singing it. I thought to myself what are they going to do an episode for? Ruining Nirvana song? Nope it was Soundgarden these people need to be lined up against the wall

Upon hearing they were working on this, I just kinda laugh because Willow was already niche in the first place. So it was already going to bad.

But after seeing reviews of the 5th episode; this show is just a farce. It really falls more into parody that has nothing to do with the original film and doesn't even keep its own things consistent; let alone anything from the film.
