Less is more.
What is used to do is, if I haven’t used it in a few years, I got rid of it and I gained the room that I needed.
I did this until I was diagnosed with terminal multiple myeloma cancer at which time I found a kid ( he was 28 ) who had just started DJing and I gave him my ld speakers (4) of them and my controllers and lighting by ape labs.
I miss DJing but I have to concentrate on living the few years I have left.
I now watch you you, Burr and a few others.

Keep the videos coming and glad to see someone else cleaning out their gear.
Keep rocking Redd.

Have been accumulating lights and speakers for years. I moved last year and realized that most of the stuff just sits on a shelf and was not worth the effort to take with me, so I did the same thing and purged! A lot of people thought I was retiring from performing when they saw all the fb marketplace listings for gear. Nope, I just have too much gear! Why have 10 speakers when I only use 2?

I had to clear out a lot of stuff to reduce cost and get space back

I've been looking to streamline my inventory. I have a lot of stuff that hasn't been used in years. No reason for me to hold on to it.

I have had a storage unit for my gear for 16 years now. I have to change units every 2-3 years after the price hikes so much that I need to move my gear to a new place to bring my expense back down. It is all tax deductible. I unfortunately just don't have room at home for my gear. I am selling things too, but only have been selling old par lights I don't use any more.

Good news to get some space Brian. Up here (Canada) Generally used equipment goes for 50% of the new price seems to be the rules that we follow around here anyway. Good luck with the purge and reclaiming some space.

Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) is a term used to describe the compulsive urge to buy and accumulate technical equipment, especially for DJs, musicians, photographers, and audio engineers. I'm on my midlife but I admit I have it since I was a teenager.

We have the same problem, good equipment that’s no longer used and just setting around

Good morning I had the same problem not as much as you have with the equipment but I have two sound systems and storage right now so I understand your frustration

Are those Wash FX I saw in the background? I might be able to take those off your hands.

Where are you located. Do you have a link to a listing(s)? I am definitely interested in getting some of it off your hands.

Phew, lucky I live in the UK, or else I'd be tempted to buy a few things to clutter up my lock up even more ha ha

Hey Brian,

What are your thoughts on the age to start as a DJ? I'm curious about your opinion on whether there's a cut-off age for this career. For example, it wouldn't be practical for an 80-year-old to start working in construction. Do you think the same applies to DJing?

That’s a good problem to have. Hope you can sell and make the room you need.

Hell yeah bro. It’s the forever problem of djing. Gotta adopt a one in one out rule.
