On the microphone comment, condenser microphones tend to pick up a lot of background noise. First, ensure they are in a directional mode like cardioid to reduce the strength of background noise. They are fantastic for studio work where capture of the subtle nuances is needed. If using a condenser mic (or any mic), the concept of signal to noise ratio comes into play. If your voice is really strong, the background noises are less intrusive. Hence the use of booms for mics to get them close to the mouth like in commercial radio. The same effect can be achieved with shotgun mics, but they do change the sound somewhat and are expensive. Loads more, and that isn't my main expertise lol.
