Volkswagen Passat 1.8 Turbo Low Oil Pressure Create Access Plate

Working on a 99 VW Passat that has low oil pressure and a terrible top end noise? I was going to pull the oil pan and replace the oil pump thinking it was full of sludge and pieces of the cam chain adjuster along with the Oil Pick Up Tube. The valve cover can be removed to inspect the chain tensioner and I found the tensioner and cam hold downs. VW / Audi: 1.8T engine oil pressure checking may be good to try. You may be asking What does STOP oil pressure stop motor mean? VW passat keeps saying STOP! Oil pressure low! People have had this looked at multiple times and the mechanics can't find any reason for the cause of this. They have replaced a few things and it runs great for about a week and then we get STOP! It's very frustrating to have the car in the shop once a week/2weeks!!! The car has the correct amount of oil in it. Why can't we find the problem?? B5 passat with low oil pressure 1.8t. I've got a 2003 Passat 1.8t. It has about 155,000 miles on it. It goes like this. The RED LIGHT low oil pressure comes on.
The dash board display flashes STOP.
1. The engines full of clean oil at the right level.
2. The oil pressure test OK with a gauge.
3. The engine was then flushed and refilled.
The RED LIGHT and the STOP now are still displayed, VW 2.0 No Oil Pressure Fix/Tips Oil Pan And Pump, Oil Light On. Audi TT 1.8t sump and pick up pipe removal. Clogged Passat Oil Pick-Up. Quick fix. Passat & Audi 1.8 Turbo motors are prone to clogged oil pick-ups. The Audi has a transverse mounted motor so it is very easy to drop the pan. The Passat motor is mounted longitudinally and the pan sits right on top of a crossmember. It is very expensive to have it repaired or takes a many hours to do yourself. I got creative. Next time it will be a 30 minuet job. Shout Out to Wayne's Stuff YouTube channel for the inspiration. Could work for 2006 VW 2.0L turbo no or low oil pressure problem. The only video I could find was for How To Install Replace Oil Pan 1.8T 2004-05 Volkswagen VW Jetta and Beetle with an access at the bottom of the pan. VW 2.0 No Oil Pressure Fix/Tips Oil Pan And Pump, Oil Light On. Remove a Oil Sump Pan Oil Pick Up Strainer & Clean

awesome video of how you shouldn't do a job. And the best thing is the amount of positive comments that the video has .... the work that this person has done is terribly a very bad way of how you should not repair an oil pump blockage.
Do you know why the oil pan doesn't have an access port on the bottom? to avoid that due to a simple failure of a gasket, several liters of oil do not spill on the road and because of that people die due to an accident due to oil on the asphalt
That is why I am impressed by all the people who like this video and comment positively. you can tell there is very little common sense. And for those who want to answer me with some stupidity, I only say that I have been a car mechanic for 25 years and I have never seen stupidity like this and even less of people praising it

Huh, really! Now you will have metal filings from the grinding, drilling and taping of the plate running through your motor, then all the extra gasket maker when it degrades will plug that pick up solid! For people who view this video, DO NOT DO THIS! Guaranteed way to destroy your motor.

A brilliant idea... THANK YOU!! Also, GREAT documentation and absolutely the BEST editing, and I love that you included a detailed "list" (with pictures, no less!) of the tools and materials that you used. Thanks again, David

Wouldn't it be easyer just to remove the oil pan, remove all the parts (without unscrewing screws thru the cutted out buthole in oil pan), and put it all together? I mean, you spend more time creating cover, letting to dry sealer, and we are not even talking about metal filings in engine after cutout and drilling....

Congratulations. You've traded a bad pickup tube for an engine full of metal shavings.

As others have commented about the gasket maker coming off internally, I would suggest anyone doing this to purchase a thin sheet of cork or rubber and make a gasket. I've even used thin cardboard to make gaskets in a pinch.

Its not pretty or beautiful, but If it works, it works.

I once had a similar engine consuming too much oil. Ended up cutting a hole through every cylinder bore to gain access to the piston rings. I put some gasoline and WD-40 to them and tried rocking and turning them in their gaps. All the shit that came off, I drained through a similar access hole through the oil pan. Used the same sealant to reseal the cylinder bores, but used more screws to attach the cover plates to each cylinder. Compression test only showed about 5-10 % leakage! Made the engine great again!

My car, this situation is not the first time, the mileage has changed over 150, 000 kilometers, and the oil pump has been replaced. Then the mileage is 250, 000 kilometers and the oil pressure is too low. I think of the owner of the repair shop. I told you that this has to be changed every 100, 000 kilometers. I didn't believe that the oil pump was so easy to fail at first, but today I believe that this problem is very troublesome. If it is not handled, it will cause engine damage.

Kind of reminds me of my 95 cougar xr7 when the fuel pump went out 2 minutes after i filled the tank. I wasnt about to drop the tank so i pulled the back seat, used a cold chisel to cut a hole in the sheet metal, peeled it back and gained access to the pump. Replaced the pump, folded the metal back, put the seat back in and was going down the road within 20 minutes.

Greetings. I'm 99% sure you don't have to mess with the frame to gain access to the bolts (on the oil pan). You simply need to move the sway bar down a little bit. Once the clamps/bolts on the sway bar are loosened you can move it down and away to gain access to the oil pan bolts.
