Opening of the Atholl Highlanders Parade outside Blair Castle in Perthshire Scotland 2017 Highlights

With the annual 2020 Atholl Highlanders Parade and Gathering at Blair Castle in Perthshire, Scotland now cancelled, here is the start of one the previous parades outside this beautiful Castle. The Atholl HIghlanders are Europe’s last remaining private army under the command of the Duke of Atholl. This shows the Highlanders, led by their Pipes and Drums, marching up and forming ready for the parade outside Blair Castle in 2017.

Wow! I miss home.this is my family! Have had the pleasure of visiting the castle. They are the only private army in the Queens realm. Murray has the greatest collection of ancient firearms in the world. The countryside is absolutely beautiful!

I lived near Tummel Bridge (Pitlochry) and would visit Blair Castle and loch Rannoch with my grandad. Bouncing about in the back of his series 1 landrover. He ran a forge near to the gates and we were allowed to plany in the grounds. Circa 1972.

Liking the drill...the old lee sure makes for good rifle drill. First weapon i learned arms drill with, still remember the moves glad to say :-) . Well done and best wishes to all on a grand performance well executed.

Once went grouse shooting with the former Duke (the shoot across the glen from the one Lord Snowdon caught some shot at someone shot down the line of butts got him and his loader.)

The Atholl Highlanders is a Scottish ceremonial infantry regiment. They are the only remaining private army in Europe, and act as the personal bodyguard to the Duke of Atholl; Chieftain of the Clan Murray, a family that has thrived in Perthshire for some 750 years.
