Try doing that but on a sticky part of a sticky note it works better! Just get an eraser and erase on the sticky part!

I actually used to do this a lot and my friend taught me this whenever it keep crumbling I just add water and start squeezing them to make them smooth

It works with any eraser but if it crumbles more use the sticky part of a post it note then try kneeling it

You can also erase the back of a sticky note and it makes the kneaded eraser sticky and soft.

If it's crumbly, get some tape or sticknote and rub on the sticky part and stick that on the eraser.
