John Deere 8400R SCV lever problem

Another rain job to catch up on real quick! Customer called in with a John Deere 8400R that sometimes will not raise or lower the planter and the customer is fairly confident it's in the scv lever switch. Good time to pull out the Milwaukee Tech Bag and get this baby fixed before it dries out again!

Man oh man! When I was a mechanic back in the early 70's we didn't have all of this technology or even some of the tools that techs have today. You make it look easy Zeth.

Another cool video dude!!! I love when I have a customer like the one you had that's like "well if you cant verify it just replace the switch and at least we are eliminating that from the equation if that is not the problem. I like that PT 1/4" drive set, perfect for in cab jobs

I sense some Millennial Farmer, Vice Grip Garage, and maybe some AvE in your videos. Just binged almost all of your content and it is very entertaining stuff.

Great job for the new guy. We have a new JD tech school guy going through a 7R IVT job. If you have any videos of that, we would love to see. Thanks bud, and take care. Don't lift shit again!

I have replaced 3 of these on different 8R tractors. I program itec even for one account to reduce west and tare on the switches. My coworkers thing it’s a wast of time, but I hate eating for parts. Inventory at the dealers are getting shorter and shorter thus making the customer pay for overnight shipping or wait 4-5 days for stock order.

You work on some high dollar machines.
Must be lots of big farms around there

@ZK Mastertech I recommend a screwdriver bit set from Chapman Mfg, high quality made in USA bit set. They come in a small packaging and can fit into some tight spots

For us amateurs, SCV = Selective Control Valve.

Another great video with amazing working techniques could you please explain is that flicking fingers does the magic of assembly or or the unit gets frightened by them fingers and jumps back together in a blink of an eye 🤣
Anyway best wishes from across the pond 🤝
