John Deere 8R series SCV coupler repairs.

In this video, I will show you how to replace the SCV couplers on an John Deere 8R tractor. These style couplers have been used for a long time and you can use this repair process for a variety of tractors like the 8030 series, 9030 series, 8R, and 9R tractors. The tractor that I am repairing is a John Deere 8370R that I previously did work on. Took awhile to get the SCV couplers in, so I am just now getting to put them in. Those inner o rings are a real son of a gun to replace! Learned my lesson, I only change them if they look torn or show some type of sign of damage. Usually carry a couple sets of those in my truck inventory and if need to use them at least I have some to replace. Great video ZK!

Deere has had a big problem with these couplers. 6R thru 8R series. They bleed off they the drain port back to the rear end housing so the won’t hold pressure or when connected they will blow the coupler out like it wasn’t hooked up properly. There is a reason most all dealers have multiple ones of these in stock.

How did you know that the couplers were bad and not the o-rings when you tested them? Obviously you were right but my first thought would be to replace the o-rings. Great video btw
