This is probably the best review I've found. So detailed and technical, not the usual out of the box stuff. Love it!

I got one of these at launch and have been happy with it for gaming ever since they updated the firmware. I wanted a large high end HDR gaming monitor that wasn't OLED and decided I didn't care about value, just wanted something I could set and forget for 5-10 years. I don't think this monitor is worth the cost, but I don't think it's egregious given how little competition exists in this segment. Ultrawide is fun for FPS and racing games.

I have had the original G9 for over a year now and I love it. It is great for productivity and the few games that support 32:9 are amazing.

But holy crap, does it have its issues, especially with the earlier firmware versions.

I am totally with you on the lack of vertical pixels in today's monitor selection. I'll gladly take excess horizontal pixels if the vertical pixels are within the 4k spec. I'm rocking an ancient Dell U2410 and am patiently waiting for a curved ultrawide HDR 1000 monitor with a high refresh rate and reliable panel technology. It might never come.

I watched lots of review vids on this monitor before deciding to buy it. Even with all its issues known, I decided to take a chance on it. Just got it a week ago and luckily I don't have any problems with it yet. Ran a monitor test and no defects showed up. It is making 'popping' noises as the plastic heats and cools. Overall, super happy I pulled the trigger on it. The screen real-estate is awesome outside of gaming. Gaming is super immersive.

I just picked up the G9 Neo locally on Facebook market place for $1200, I couldn’t pass up the deal. So far I’m very pleased with it!

im on a 21:9 and regret not just going with about a 40" 4k instead, support for ultrawide is not great and a lot of media does weird crap with black bars even when it is ultrawide format

Thank you so much for this review, really enlightening. I was under the impression that this monitor "had it all" and while I wasn't considering a purchase I had recommended it to a few people who wanted "the best ultrawide". I'll be tempering those recommendations for the time being. I'm kinda surprised that Samsung would release this with so many issues, kind of taints their brand.

Got mine for 1649 (black Friday sale 1999 and then my educational discount)... Sold my Odyssey G9 for 1280 on ebay.... Very pleased with the thing!!

I just traded my G7 in for a 32in 2440p LG 175hrz. I thought I could get over the curve and how glitchy it was but I couldn't after less then a year. It nice not having to think about your monitor.

This monitor seems like it was designed for running MS Flight Sim. Imagine this thing on a makeshift cockpit with a force feedback chair.

Excellent timing. I was about to order one of these during the 25% off sale. Held off to see what else comes out next year. Now I know this is not the end all be all. Just darn close.

I own the original G9 and I love it for productivity. I have been using it for almost an year now but the issues with horizontal scanlines and random flickering drives me nuts at times. I've grown too attached to the curvature and aspect ratio of this monitor which is making it harder for me to get accustomed to the 55" C1 I purchased to replace it.

All my computing life I've had the mission to keep on getting bigger monitors but along the way I've learned that for me, 34" Ultrawide with a nice curve is my limit where I can take in the whole picture without moving my head. If this monitor were offered to me today as a switch from my 2 year old 34", I'd turn it down. I've found my perfect monitor size and the horror that was living with a 55" screen as a monitor are long behind me.

I've always wondered why we can't just...Plug in two cables to overcome bandwidth limitations. I'm aware there are signalling and synchronization issues, but that seems like an issue that should be solvable, given ALL of the funding going into various display engineering projects at the moment.

I have the original G9 2020 with the latest firmware version 1016.0 never had any issues, Gaming on 32:9 with HDR and 240Hz is breeze, In terms of productivity I see all I can't go back to anything else !

I can confirm, that Club3D cables really work great. I ditched almost all other DP1.4 cables. Also that switch is amazing. Glad I bought it. Thank you, Wendel!

Hey Wendell, I’ve got that exact KVM and this monitor (non-Neo). You’re gonna need to upgrade the monitor firmware to the latest version, enable freesync, set to 240hz in monitor and 120hz in PC, I’m using a 6ft club3D cable and a 3ft club3d cable. 9ft is the limit! Other cables caused issues and artifacting, it MUST be club3D cables. iVanky cables weren’t cutting it.

The less pixels are better for gaming. Yes it’s less than 4K in pixels, but easier for a GPU to drive. It also forces games that only work in a single monitor to use dual monitor space.

I got the neo for $1600 on Black Friday with combination of discounts. I run it at 240hz and dont find it to be blurry. My biggest gripe is that it tends to over saturate. Having watched your video though I’m going to try it in 120hz mode to see if the experience improves. I mostly play amazons new world so I’m never getting over 120 FPS for the most part. Thanks for the info!

@15:21 i prefer gaming on ultrawide resolutions.... Having the HORIZONTAL real-estate is a game changer for wfh and gaming.

I got an older g9, and i love this thing. having owned triple 16:9 displays and a single 34" 21:9, I just can't go back, . dont care if 4k " has more pixels", will still prefer to game and work on 32:9 or 21:9. in 2021 i would not spend money on 16:9 displays even if they're 4k.. period.
