As we continue to juggle face-to-face and online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, I will continue to record my lessons here on YouTube.

My Year 11 VCE Mathematical Methods class have resumed Semester 2 by studying Circular Functions, a topic which will be new to most of the students.

In this video, we look solving more complex trigonometric equations of the form sin(n(x-b)) = p or cos(n(x-b)) = p. This requires an understanding of the definitions of sine and cosine in the unit circle, the symmetries in the unit circle, the exact values, and to also have a sense of the graph shapes that we’re dealing with.

The class uses the Cambridge Senior Maths textbook for Unit 1 and 2 Mathematical Methods and the TI Nspire CAS CX / CXII calculator.
