When I started working as a Primary School Teacher I found lots of things difficult. I would worry about things that, perhaps, I didn't need to! Thankfully I am now able to reflect on my experiences as a newly qualified teacher and offer some tips, tricks and advice to those who are currently going through their first year of teaching (NQT year.) Please feel free to message me if you have any questions about your first year of teaching - or if you have any worries of your own to share!

Hi! I love your videos. A few topic ideas that would be amazing for you to cover if you could:

- communicating with parents
- what to do in those “filler” moments
- how to use PPA time more effectively
- consequences for children’s misbehaviour.

It's so lovely to see a video like this and I would have been so reassured last year as an NQT (heck, I feel relieved now to know I'm not the only one who gets the late-to-assembly dread sweats). Thanks so much for all the wonderful content you put out!
Another thing I would mention here is parent communication. This was (is) one of the most scary things for me because I'd panic about saying the wrong thing or coming across as accusatory or unhelpful. Now I know there is always a member of staff willing to accompany you or even just pretend to work in the same room as your parent meeting so you aren't left alone to make mistakes or be uncomfortable.

Thanks so much for this - I'm so excited to be starting my teaching journey, heading into my teaching program this semester. But I was feeling pretty nervous and kinda down about not feeling prepared enough (that's why your last point in particular struck a chord with me). But I'll just do my best to be a great teacher and bring my own unique style to try to make it fun for the kids. Thank you! 😁

Hi! Do you ever worry about getting asked something you don’t know? For example English is not my first language but I want to become a teacher here in the UK and I’m scared it could happened that maybe I don’t know some words even though I’m confident my English is good but it could happen I don’t know certain terminology, can you give me tips on this and on what you usually do when kids ask you something you don’t know the answer to? Thanks xx

I relate to the first one sooo much, I was so late with my class to assembly that the head actually came in to see if we were all okay! Never been so embarrassed

Remember the Air Traffic Controllers! Homeschooling by parents or neighborhood groups and lower property school taxes is the way to go!. The majority of teachers are showing their true feelings! "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME" Teachers point of view.
