The fact that out of every monsters in D2's bestiary they choose the Souls to do this easter egg is also an important fact, they put their souls into this game, and it shows, 20 years later and I am still playing this masterpiece.

holy crap this just explained a thing a friend and i experienced in first 1.11 ladder. we were doing baal runs privately and we had souls in the chamber that stopped attacking us, we didn't know wtf was happening and thought it was a bug. then we killed baal and got absolutely nothing probably

Assuming the MF buff from this easter egg is real, it's an effective practical demonstration of just how how severe the magic find diminishing returns are. No matter how much MF you get- even infinite- you never get above 250% unique find.
