As a retired detective I hate to arm chair quarterback an investigation. That being said i dont know why the sheriff is releasing they have cell phone records etc. when you do get the suspect in custody and interview him or her, if they don’t come clean your second best option is to catch them lying. Putting out you have cell phone records allows them to tweak their story to cater to what evidence you have. I have had a lot of interviews where suspects said I wasn’t there or I don’t know the victim. Once we told them we have proof they were in the area or they texted the victim, it’s a game changer
