Between poor drive performance with TrueNAS and Ubuntu pissing me off with GPU stuff I'm not having a good time. The more I pretend to do sysadmin stuff the angrier I get it seems. I thought Linux was better than Windows but it is starting to seem more like Windows is better. Oh well we will see what happens I guess. Eventually I want to do an updated homelab tour video.

The rack looks really good after all your hard work ✨ Is the whole system Linux or one piece that could be replaced? Did Linux come out in the early 2000s? I seem to remember classmates who had gotten another system (not Windows) and they didn't like it....🤔

I use Ubuntu since 2006 on my servers as NAS, DNS, ZoneMinder (=NVR) etc BUT only as bare-Metal w/o Kuber, Docker ... since the Hardware is so ancient & underpowered. Any kind of Virtualization adds more complexity and compute demands to every Layer & Service. Very happy, high performance, zero crashes in 4 yrs on 10 yrs old Hardware!
