There’s a reason all those homes are on stilts. It’s a flood plain. I live in Florida, in the Tampa Bay Area, 40 ft above sea level. We had not one home flood in my entire zip code. Build smarter.

That certainly proves the concept of building on stilts. Obviously, many of the undamaged homes are newer, but with proper construction, the catastrophically destroyed home is no longer necessary. Deeply rooted reinforced concrete stilts, with proper materials designed and built for these types of storms, and it proves they can build homes that undergo these types of events with minimal damage.

I work in Suwannee everyday, debby was bad but not that bad.

That's crappy. It was such a slow moving storm. I see a lot of houses on stilts but still....

Put houses up on piles like people used to do and you're OK for a while. Many older house in the video have done that. 😊
