One thing I had a hard time grasping at first for aiming was that you don't generally walk towards your target. You can, but I feel like it adds a layer of complexity that's not necessary. I want to end up at the same spot at the end of my approach as where I started.

People walk straight and angle their body towards their target. Realizing that made it easier for me to visualize trajectory

They say you're never too old to learn. This intrigues me very much. I have tried similar targeting in the past but it just feels beyond weird and I revert back to old familiar ways. I'll give this an honest try and see if it works for me. Thanks JR.

1:26 just getting back into bowling after many years away from the game. Filling in for the last few weeks in my wife's league planning to join next year. I can't even say where my aim point is as I've strictly just adjusted where I line up with my feet based on ball reaction and where it hits. Figure this way it's one less stressor until I get the feel for the release and just bowling again. Starting off way better than expected but everything feels foreign to me. 2 more weeks and tonight I think I'll start this again after watching this video. It's just hard to see the lane with cataract in my left eye (right hander) and I approach with a slightly open set up leaving my bad eye with most view down lane which is just a mess at the moment lol.

I am glad you uploaded this video I am 1 year into bowling and stopped looking at the arrow
I look at the dot and make my adjustments.

I prefer the arrows to look at. I do everything else you say but I always use the boards at the arrows

I just bowled league with this in mind, and immensely improved my game. I had a problem with the ball not travelling diagonally right enough when playing way left at the foul line, making the ball go Brooklyn side a lot. This video made me realize that I am getting fooled by my own vision - I was just not creating enough angle towards the right! I adjusted my target by half an arrow to the right - and it looked like it was going to go in the gutter - but the ball drew a beautiful trajectory on the lanes, breaking at where I wanted it to, and giving me a flush strike over and over. Thank you so much!

In general do most pros target at the arrows or dots? I've tried both and have more success aiming at arrows because it keeps my head up and balance in tune.

any advice for someone who has depth perception issues. the arrows and the dots look way closer to me than they really are
