Never heard of him, but nice to hear he's not arrogant like some others in the tech field can be.

Before react, we used a design pattern called “MVC” which basically means your app needs a separate place to manage data (Model) from the UI / logic code (view, controller).

When React came out, it was marketed as “mvc is dead, now you can build an app with react.”

People with traditional software engineering backgrounds and degrees were demonized for criticisms react because it didn’t have a Model. This resulted in the “props drilling” problem.

That’s when Dan abramov made redux - which basically solved the problem that MVC solved 40 years ago. Redux is basically the “model”.

So on one hand it’s nice that he doesn’t have a traditional background, but ironically that’s the reason a lot of these JS frameworks cause more problems than they solve - they are created by people who don’t understand traditional design patterns.

Do you think a 40 year without previous coding skills can learn and become a front end web developer freelancer in one year?

Do more shots like this. But pray they don't copy your wave.

If they want you, they don't bother you with that algorithm stuff.

Interesting. Facebook and other Big Tech companies are the type to show you the door if you can't invert a binary tree but have Dan Abramov on the team. Not throwing shade at Dan but just find that interesting

Wow! He didn't even know algorithms...
