I dont like (but I use from time to time) to use waves / loops made by someone. I like to build mine waves. BTW, It is sad to heard a song similar to someone else song hehehe

I agree with you on Royalty Free and I don't think he should have gone after anyone, he probably only did it because it did so well. This is why I rarely use loops, I have used one of yours as you know and I credited you for it in my YT channel that featured the track, but this is also why I don't use loops in my music.

In my opnion, whether or not he (kyle beats) intended on calling out the producer for taking "his" loop, if we can use royalty free drum sounds for beats without the scandal, then loops should be fair game. (You should still make your own tho 😂)

I am in the "Royalty free is royalty free, full stop" camp. Some loop kits I have seen/used include a license txt or pdf that spell it out.

"Royalty free surely means royalty free, right?" - Not for greedy, unscrupulous people. I've seen several companies selling royalty-free loop kits with a license which explicitly says that you have the right to use the loops royalty-free, BUT if your composition (which includes the royalty-free loops) is picked up by a label or a major artist, then you need to get ANOTHER license (which, I assume, has a high cost or royalties attached to it). They're basically saying, "use our loops without paying us royalties, but if you make a lot of money, give us a cut", which is completely antithetical to the concept of royalty-free.

EDIT: In case it's not obvious, my thoughts align with yours -- royalty-free means royalty-free, full stop. If you want to get paid when someone uses your loops, then don't release them royalty-free. If you do release them royalty-free, then anyone (who owns a valid license) has the right to use them, regardless of how much money they make, without paying any additional consideration (money, publicity, etc).

fishing beats just feel like malware. Kyle's video was an advertisement to never use Kyle's ooppacks. thx for doubling down on your terms, that reflect the general understanding of royalty free beats Dixon. Success may come your way.

I believe Kyle Beats a clout chaser. He's been in the business long enough to understand the procedures. All he's doing is tarnishing those that makes sound packs. That's why I never use melody sounds or buy packs because this is a great example, But I'm creative anyway I can do without. Kayla beats comes forward only to benefit and promoting his Brand

Lol. Kyle is not entitled to _anything_. His loop is royalty-free, so he is not required to be credited - or reimbursed. Even if it wasn't, if his pack doesn't have a pay-per-stream monetization, he still wouldn't be entitled to anything extra, just because a track has made it big...

Hate how entitled people are.

This KyleBeats situation is why I’m very hesitant to using loop kits or sample packs. The idea of advertising something as “royalty free” just to come back later seeking money is pretty shady in my opinion. Especially because it feels like the tag “royalty free” was only used to get more sales and they still feel entitled to something if it’s used

I think the Jacob's choir sounds good although it's free

No, the standard terms for most "royalty free" loops is no credit/royalties..bit normally only up to a certain threshold of sales/streams. After that point both credits and royalties kick in.
It's actually a really fair way of operating because it gives artists the ability to put stuff out and build a fanbase without getting bogged down in the red tape of credits and splits on whatever little bit if income they're generating. But if something blows up big (especially to hundreds of millions of streams like that song did)...then it's only fair that everyone involved in the production shares in the credits and financial gains. Most loop makers are also looking for thier big break also (thats part of why they make loops in the first place)....so it's completely fair that when they give away (or sell cheaply) thier loops, if something blows up huge then the terms state credits and royalties apply. And on top of that, that loop was used "as is", it wasn't chopped or anything just ran thru a filter lol.

If someone uses a free loop and blows up huge with it, and wants to pull the ladder up behind them on the person who made that loop, that's messed up.

Borealis is actually really cool for live performances, I covered it on my channel, very responsive.

I think 'royalty free' pretty much means you're giving your rights away.

Unless that is, you're a millennial. 😂

I completely agree with you Dixon, royalty free should mean completely free, without any reservations, and without any strings attached, but unfortunately it is not like that. Over time, like many others, I received many royalty free sample packs, and it was only when I saw a video on Youtube that tackled the subject that it dawned on me that you have to be very careful when it comes to "Royalty free" sample packs

The finisher Micro is boss level. U can basically turn any instrument into an atmosphere sound (pull Attack back). Great for foundations

Honestly royalty free is never actually royalty free, these words can be changed later by the creator if their work is platinum and got no money from it. Depends on the person, Kyle wasn't right to chase them down if it's royalty free but royalty free is just a gimmick, not real. Dynamics can change and it means nothing

Alarm…thanks. Royalty free? With a video. With a plaque. With a public shaming from an account with that many subs? Before the end of the video and it being royalty free made by someone else? OMGOSH. I really just saw that. After seeing that entire video? My plans in this domain are on pause.

Quick note: beginning musicians are trying to learn how to make music. Lawyers learn law. Human nature is at play here, with incorrect vocabulary. Beginners and people who don’t understand royalties tend to see “free”, not “royalty”. Few know what “royalty, ” in this context, means, in practice. People, on average, tend to skip or ignore words, licenses, and small print we don’t know or understand. So the next and only thing seen, from my experience, is “free.” And people get happy and now they own it (most assume exclusively) and do everything they can to lock it down. They assume it is exclusive, because, with the wording, most beginners and non lawyers assume they have free, exclusive rights. Not because of reality. Because the wording feeds the misunderstanding. Sometimes called marketing.

Anyone being kind like you and doing real royalty free? The video you mentioned obsfuscates the kind producers.

Where I submit music? There is no free.
There is “1…do you exclusively own every part of this song and did you specifically play it? 2…do you have exclusive rights to every part of the production? 3. Are you prepared, right now, to transfer complete ownership of all aspects of the production; to transfer ownership for all perpetuity throughout known and unknown universes”… All perpetuity. Known and unknown universes. Not a joke.

So. To utilize any loop or sample safely? That person or studio has to be a NDA carrying part of my studio, before the loop or sample was made. Or there is a need for an “iron clad” rights transfer contract.

Yeah.

As it is now, to be safe, the title or first communication should be something like: “Hi!!! I just gave you a free thing, just sign this NDA, and where can my lawyer send contracts? Here is the usage license, 1-2 pages, 10 pt type single spaced. Do you want exclusive, or non exclusive rights and for how long? And also remember I own the loop or sample so you can’t sell it. There is a map of Notary Public locations to get the contract signed and witnessed, legally. Simply send that contract and your loops and samples will be promptly delivered.”

Lol. No. Won’t work for me and it bums me out. Additionally. 1 loop or sample, without a valid rights transfer, and a registered copyright by the people who make the song from the loop or sample? 1 registered copyright from a customer with 1 “royalty free” loop or sample on an owned or non exclusive loop or sample and there are potentially 1000s of copyright strikes on anyone else who used the “free loop or sample” and me proving I wrote my loop or sample on my hypothetical copyright strike for my loop or sample pack video by the person who got a “free loop or sample” and copyright registered it.

Mess. As you know. NDAs are not really cool for most people. It’s confusing and scary for most people I have met. And the more correct, direct, contractual way to say this is: “free for anyone not releasing anything or not playing music in public (meaning never heard by anyone; true for most anything), non exclusive lease with specific conditions, or terms and costs for complete ownership transfer”; lawyers know how to do all that in a way that is binding. And it’s not a short and snappy “royalty free.”

That video in question? I’m appalled. That was the last moment for me. Royalty free if the plaque is free? And he didn’t even make it? 3 levels of mess. With a video about it that is commercialized? It gave me a stomach ache. I’m doing collabs and splits on original works for the foreseeable future.

The solution? Sure. A government controlled rights entity in every country that the whole world agrees to having legal power, worldwide, and the right to legally enforce. That group of 100s of entities would have to register and monitor every download, purchase, exclusive, and non exclusive samples and loops, 24/7, 365 days a year. Sort of like a UN for loop and sample rights.

It will exist someday. Now? I will skip a pithy joke there. Because I am hopeful and optimistic about this. Somewhere in the unpredictable future.

Most of the music of mine that is and was appropriated is and was done in countries without extradition or agreement on copyright laws so I get the privilege of watching it happen.

Thank you for asking 🙏 ~ stefan

No royalty free is free he shouldn’t have put royalty free. It’s your lost dude if the song becomes popular. I would’ve fought him for that. Next time don’t put your loops out there that you think is dope.

Click bait for sure by Kyle. If you release it royalty free no one is obligated to credit you or whoever made it. That’s your own fault
