Most judges and attorneys have memberships to the same golf club course. They're all buddies and know before walking into the courthouse how it's going to end.

I really like this short sweet non biased public service announcement. I imagine there are a great deal of pertinent things you could reveal to the subscribers in this fashion. For those who do not normally tangle with the law these things are really good take into account.

I don't trust anyone that can lie and get away with it

So let me get this straight. You can tell your attorney in explicit detail how you murdered somebody and the attorney can still advise you to plead not guilty because he/she sees flaws in the prosecution’s case?

just because someone is guilty it does not mean that he forfeits his right to a def.... normally a great deal can be said for someone who has pleaded guilty. He may be full of remorse. He may have repaid the money he has stolen. He may have suffered a terrible childhood...or perhaps he has, since he committed the crime, given up drink or drugs, or managed to get a job after years of unemployment..but If he won't plead guilty...I guess.. just put the prosecution to proof by testing their case..really enjoy these concise surprise shorts!..thank you Scott😁

I've always said, "never lie to your doctor or your lawyer. If you do, it will not bode well."

I knew a high profile defense attorney when his mother was in the hospice where I worked. I liked him. He was so intelligent and logical. Obviously good traits for a defense attorney. He also had a piercing gaze. I asked him if he could read minds. He laughed and said no, but experience and logical conclusions gave him a pretty good idea. One other thing he told me was that he didn’t even want to know if his client was guilty. He didn’t ask and made it clear he didn’t want to be told. He thought it put him at a disadvantage from the get-go. He had a duty to make sure his client got a fair trial. I recommended hm to a workmate that was falsely accused and My workmate regained him. He’s probably retired by now.

When I was younger and wore rose colored glasses I could
Never wrap my head around defending the “guilty”. After the craziness over the last few years I totally respect the defense attorney role. We need defense attorneys more than we can even imagine.

Not sure if u have heard of the Skidmore bully or not here n Missouri but I took care of Mcleroy's attorney Mr. McFadden when I worked n nursing & I had to ask him "how can u defend a person knowing what he had done?" & his exact words were "I told him when he came to my office & asked me to represent him if u did do these things, keep them to urself. Do not tell me u did do them if u want to win this case bc I can not look the court n the eye & lie to them... they will see right through me"

Yep!! A plea of "not guilty" doesn't mean "I didn't do it." It means "Prove it!" It is the prosecution's job to do that, and the only reason to agree to a guilty plea is if there is a plea deal involved.

No, never tell your attorney where you’re guilty or not. Stick to your story and have them fight for you.

I did, and was forced to apologize to my ex abusive husband. It worked out for me, but still was scary.

I believe if the client wants to go to trial instead of negotiating a plea deal, the defense owes it to him to do the best job to get him the lesser sentence or found not guilty. It happens. There are several recent cases. As, Scott points out, picking the flaws out of the prosecution's is the best defense. Whether the client pays or the state pays for defense.

NO! Those people who represent & judge do not know how it will end. Unless the lawyer is crooked. Not many of those left now. How about the jury? I say that many are shocked because they think they have the best case!

Hi Scott, in your last video on the Arbery case, you stated ambivalently that you did not know what Ahmaud was doing in that site. Under examination by the defense, the owner of the house under construction, stated that he could not remember a statement that he had made to the police that he had a problem with trespassers and water.,

What do all runners need? A slice of pizza? No! A 85 inch flat screen television? No! A power tool? No! A drink of water? Yes!

The owner of the site misrepresented the truth to cover himself. Had he told the neighbors this, maybe the killers would have reacted differently.
